Musing About Things: Bookish Tag – This or That

I saw this on Rebel Mommy Book Blog and thought it was cute so I figured I’d give it a go!
The tag was originally created by Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks.

Here are some bookish things you may or may not already know about me!

READING ON THE COUCH OR IN BED?

I’m usually a couch person! So I can keep my snacks nice and close but not get crumbs in my bed, ha.

MALE MAIN CHARACTER OR FEMALE MAIN CHARACTER?

I think because we usually don’t get enough male POVs, I love it when we do! They’re usually pretty hilarious.

SWEET SNACKS OR SALTY SNACKS WHILE READING?

Salty all the way! I’m definitely a chips person rather than a chocolate person.

TRILOGIES OR QUARTETS?

Trilogies? Though my favourite series is The Lunar Chronicles and it’s technically a quartet, so yes. But also Duologies are a thing now, and I like those!

FIRST PERSON POV OR THIRD PERSON POV?

Hmm…probably third-person omniscient.

BOOKS THAT MAKE YOU LAUGH OR BOOKS THAT MAKE YOU CRY?

I am a laughter kinda gal. Though I don’t mind a cry once in a while. But nothing beats a good laugh (like these books brought me!):

READING AT NIGHT OR IN THE MORNING?

I’m a night time reader! I always read at least a little bit before I go to bed. Though lately, since I get to work early, I can get some reading done in the morning, too! (But usually I don’t get up early enough for morning reading, ha)

LIBRARIES OR BOOKSTORES?

Both! As a kid, definitely the libraries. As an adult who can kinda afford books now, I love being able to my favourites.

BLACK BOOK COVERS OR WHITE BOOK COVERS?

White covers! Love that nice clean bright look. And that splash of colour! (Aren’t they pretty!)

CHARACTER-DRIVEN OR PLOT-DRIVEN STORIES?

Character-driven! A good plot is great but an awesome character can get me invested like nothing else!

What are your this and that? Do we share some of the same opinions or are we total opposites!

  1. Yay glad you did this one!! I agree with so many and love your picks for male MCs. Wallbanger made me laugh so hard. Great picks for white covers – love them!!

  2. This is such a wonderful tag you have here!! I am a fan of both libraries and bookstores. They are so many great things about building your own personal library. But its still fun to grab up books at the local library too.

  3. Fun tag and it was nice getting to know you better!

  4. This is a fun tag! Love the questions. I prefer third person too although first person is nice occasionally. And I’m definitely a night owl reader.

Duologies are a nice trend. And I agree- character- driven stories are awesome!

  5. Agreed with most of your responses! I love character-driven stories, they make my world go rounddd. And YES TO LAUGHTER BOOKS. They are my absolute fave dot com. 😀 That’s basically why I read in the first place! Thank god for duologies – they’re my fave. Two books so there won’t be second-book syndrome, and it has just enough story to keep a reader interested.

  6. I enjoyed getting to know your reading and book tastes better, Cyn. I’m more wishy washy because most of those I wouldn’t feel strongly either way. Like your reasoning about no crumbs in the bed and not getting up early enough to read in the morning. 🙂

  7. It is really fun getting a male POV since they’re so rare in romance. I’ve really enjoyed Emma Chase since she does that often. I’ve not had too many white covers I don’t think but they can be very pretty for sure 🙂

  8. Oooh this is such a fun tag! I agree with probably about half of yours! I am definitely a night reader, no question. And I’d prefer a salty snack any day. Though I don’t ever eat while reading, Id why really because I DO eat in bed (where I read!) Definitely prefer trilogies, and I LOVE a character driven story, too! Thanks for sharing this!

  9. Loved your reason for reading on the couch… no crumbs in the bed! LOL
And I so agree with the the male POV’s – we don’t get near enough of those.
Totally with you on character-driven books – that’s exactly what gets me invested.

  10. Crumbs in the bed are the work of the devil. That’s why I’m primarily a couch reader too, haha. I prefer stories that make me laugh as well (although a good cry now and then is good for the soul), and of the four picks you’ve listed, I’ve read three and loved ’em. Looks like I need to pick up My Lady Jane ASAP!
