Ooh, Pretty: Charles Dickens Classics (Vintage)

Ooh, Pretty

Welcome to Ooh, Pretty! A meme that features beautiful book covers! This meme is to share beautiful / interesting books covers that we’ve found and want to share! Everyone loves a pretty cover, right?

This week I want to share with you guys covers of Charles Dickens Classics by Vintage Books. In honour of the bicentennial of Charles Dickens’ birth last year, Vintage Books released 7 newly jacketed edition of Dickens’ great works all designed by Megan Wilson with illustrations by Peter de Sève.

So guys, what do you think? Personally, I really like the big typography and how it fills the book cover and uses the negative space. And I love the little piece of illustration on it. It keeps the cover from being boring and it just reminds us what the book is about (: I think the Bride in Great Expectation is my favourite of the covers.

Also, fun fact: Peter de Seve did the character designs for the movies Ice Age (and contributed to others like Mulan, and Finding Nemo.) He also did the  illustrations for the covers of the Enchanted Forest Chronicle Series by Patrica C. Wrede (the newest publication by HMH Books for Young Readers) which I absolutely adore! The books are amazing and the covers are super cute. I actually own this series already. Yes, they do make nice shelf candy on my bookshelf (:
