Danielle and Wes have been best friends since college, so when Wes needs a date for his sister’s wedding and Dani needs a partner for her company’s retreat, they devise the perfect plan: a fake engagement to get through both events unscathed. Adrenaline-junkie Wes can prove to both his ex and his family that he’s well and truly moved on, and serious-minded Dani can prove to her boss that she’s worthy of the promotion he seems to only want to give to a family-oriented employee.

But amid the fake swoons, fake kisses, and forced proximity, neither expects the very real feelings that develop. There’s nothing more dangerous than falling for your best friend…but what if the landing is worth the fall?

I’m sorry book, it’s me, not you.

There was a lot of potential here, but unfortunately me and book just didn’t see eye to eye. The idea though not greatly original is still a favourite romance trope of mine, two best friends blooming into more~ I love the idea that Wes and Dani are best friends who in attempt to subdue the people around them, engage in a fake engagement, and of course along the way, they both realize that maybe a real one wouldn’t be so bad.

So where did it go wrong for me? The fact that it’s an age old trope, sometimes means that a lot more depends on the characters for me to enjoy the book. Unfortunately I just didn’t have that connection with Dani or Wes. Instead of fun, awkward moments between them as they try to navigate jumping from the friend ship (heehee, sorry very lame, I know) to the romance ship, all I saw was angst. I understand the problems that they’re face with is realist and not always that enjoyable, but I felt there wasn’t other parts in the book to really cut through the angst.

Overall, the book is your standard fare of romance, but just wasn’t my jazz. But don’t let me deter you from giving this a go!  It’s a short breezy read when your in need of that romance kick and it still has it’s cute moments.
