He’s the hottest MMA fighter in the game, but one woman is ready to try out a few steamy moves of her own in an unforgettable new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster…

With the life he’s led and the muscles he’s gained, Armie Jacobson isn’t afraid of anything. Except maybe Merissa Colter’s effect on him. It’s not just that she’s his best friend’s little sister. Fact is, she deserves better. Women pursue him for one night of pleasure, and that’s all he wants to offer. Until rescuing Merissa from a robbery leads to the most erotic encounter of his life.

Good girl meets bad boy. It’s a story that rarely ends well. But Merissa is taking matters into her own hands. No matter how he views himself, the Armie she knows is brave, honorable and completely loyal. And as past demons and present-day danger collide, they’re both about to learn what’s truly worth fighting for…

Finally we get Armie and Rissy’s story! Since the novella Hard Knocks, I’ve adored our charming, big hearted, manwhore. I was kind of sad when Lori Foster said it would be a while before Armie got his story because he needed some time to grow up and I’m happy we had to wait, because this was easily my favourite book of the series and “grown up” Armie is so very swoony.

“Armie is…”

“Hot and complicated?”

Merissa nodded. “Yes.”

“Oversexed, sexy and caring?”

Merissa eyed her. “That, too.”

Brash and loyal to a fault?”

“Funny and strong, but guarded and so, so deserving.”

Sighing, Merissa whispered, “Yes.”

Let’s just get right into the romance! I love the chemistry and oh the sexual tension between Armie and Rissy. It’s been a long time coming, with Armie trying not to give in to his feelings for his best friend’s little sister. But finally in this book Rissy takes matter into her own hands and gives Armie the push he needs. I love extra sassy Rissy, she’s smart, strong, independent and the perfect girl for Armie.

Armie, oh Armie, He had good reasons to try to hid from love (and the limelight), but like Yvette says, is “so, so deserving” of happiness and love. Armie is a sweetheart and a true hero to the core, not only to Rissy but to everyone at the youth centre. And when Armie finally does give in to love – super adorableness!

“Yeah, I know. You’re fine.” He shouldered the door open and started up the steps with her. “But I’m not.” Hoping she’d understand, he admitted softly, “I’ll need to you, okay?”

I liked that their relationship had depth and that it wasn’t simply insta-lust. It’s always hilarious when Rissy uses her womenly wiles on Armie but I love that in the end, they’re an equal team that works things out together (after Armie stops trying to be the misguided martyr). And I loved that Cannon (Rissy’s older brother), was all for their relationship!

“Oh, hell no,” Armie said, coming to his feet and lifting a hand to keep her away. “You can knock off that shit right now.”

“What?” [Cannon] sister asked, feigning innocence while ignoring his preferences as she stepped up against him. Then she stroked his chest and looked at him with big eyes.

Armie dropped his head in disgust. “Jesus.”

They were so damn funny together, Cannon had to laugh[…]

The rest of the story was very engaging. We get a better understanding of Armie’s  alluded to dark past and why he is the way he is today. There’s a few villains out to get both Rissy and Armie and some manly angst but also a lot of fun moments with the rest of the MMA boys. I love that they tease and cajole Armie into everything every chance they get.

“He thought he being all covert,” Denver said in a ludicrous stage whisper. “Real hush-hush.”

“With the way Rissy looks at him now?”

“And,” Denver added, “how he looks at her.”

“Yeah. Almost made me blush a few times.”

Overall, Fighting Dirty really lives up to it’s name thanks to Rissy’s determination to win over Armie. They’re a couple you just smoosh their faces together. This is a great addition to the series, action and romance packed, it’ll easily suck you in. I’m a little sad that this is the last book in the series. But don’t lose heart! We’ll still be seeing some of our lovely fighters in a new series (about bodyguards!), including Leese, every girl’s best friend! I’m not sure how he did it (considering he was quite the douche in Holding Strong) but I do love the guy.
