Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.

Ever since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he’s shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn’t want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can—and never let go..

Review:

There’s really only two things you need to  know about this book:

1. There’s no resisting a charming Southern man
2. Bromance. Yes, there’s a lot of it.

So Hard As You Can starts off almost exactly where Hard As It Gets left off, with Shane as our main man. After investigating a little more in the Church gang, the Hard Ink boys discover a human trafficking scheme and they can’t just let it stand. Shane ends up getting Crystal’s help but along the way they end up falling in love (awww).

Like the first book, the book is packed with lots of action and steamy moments. We get to see more of the whole Hard Ink crew, which I love and yes, there’s more wonderful bromance! [I really can’t wait to see everyone get their happily ever after).

The romance was a bit of insta-love, but it was sweet. For me, Shane was the almost too perfect. I mean, he is totally your hot alpha male with the tragic background, who also tries to do the right thing. And he seems to never do anything wrong (which isn’t necessarily bad) but it just lacks a little bit of character depth. However, that being said, I really still liked Shane (he definitely knows how to charm). He just made Crystal so happy. And Crystal. She ended up being a pretty strong heroine when she needed to be, and getting to see her have her happy ending was really nice.

Overall, it was an engaging and exciting action-packed romance. I’m definitely excited for more of the Hard Ink gang.

  1. I thought Shane was a little over the top with his feelings, although I adore him. I am excited for the next book in the series. Great review!
