Sixteen-year-old Holly wants to remember her Grandpa forever, but she’d rather forget what he left her in his will: his wedding chapel on the Las Vegas strip. Whatever happened to gold watches, savings bonds, or some normal inheritance?

And then there’s Grandpa’s letter. Not only is she running the business with her recently divorced parents, but she needs to make some serious money–fast. Grandpa also insists Holly reach out to Dax, the grandson of her family’s mortal enemy and owner of the cheesy chapel next door. No matter how cute Dax is, Holly needs to stay focused: on her group of guy friends, her disjointed family, work, school and… Dax. No wait, not Dax.

Holly’s chapel represents everything she’s ever loved in her past. Dax might be everything she could ever love in the future. But as for right now, there’s a wedding chapel to save.

So this book is as cute and fluffy as a sweater made of clouds! (And I’ve been told by this book, nothing beats a cloud sweater.)

The plot revolves around 17 year old Holly, who inherits her grandfather’s Las Vegas wedding chapel, along with all the problems. These include, but are not limited to: crushing debt, an arguing family, a mean rivaling neighbor, and a super cute rivaling neighbor. It’s a fun mix of a coming of age story and an adorable romance.

With a title like The Chapel Wars, I was kind of hoping for hilarious rival shenanigans, all the while with a cute star-crossed romance between  Holly and Dax. There wasn’t too much shenanigans, but the romance was definitely cute. From the awkward cute meet, to the surprise dates, to the ups and downs of their relationship, I just loved watching Holly and Dax together. The situations they get into are sweet and hilarious.

“Well, then.” He brushed off his chaps. “That makes sense now.”

“Sense? There is nothing about me sitting in a gothic wedding chapel with a ridiculously handsome cowboy reading a secret letter from my dead grandfather that makes sense.

And there’s still a few funny shenanigans moments.

We made it to the chapel. I’d never seen my parents more shocked then when we came through the front door, their banged-up children and a half naked Cupid.

Holly is a good heroine who you want to root for. She determined and she loves her chapel and Las Vegas. We sorta get to see a different side of Las Vegas and what it means as a home.

Overall, The Chapel Wars is fun and sweet read. It’s about family and friends and sharing your passion. It’s about learning that just because life isn’t exactly how you expected to be, doesn’t mean it can’t be wonderful anyway. If you love cute contemporaries full of depth, but knows how to have fun too, than Chapel Wars is for you! Go read it now!

    1. It was cool to see Vegas in a different light. I’m always up for cute and fluffy!

  3. Actually, the first thing I thought of when I read the title was a bunch of people having banters and silly shenanigans, too! It’s quite a shame that’s not what we get here, but who can seriously refuse a cute romance? Holly and Dax sound like wonderful people who will jumpstart deep discernment about the wonders of life 🙂 Great review!
