It’s Romantic Thursday with Bookmunchie! So why is Thursday Romantic? Well, at my Uni, we classify the days as MWF (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and TR (Tuesday, Thursday), so in my mind, Thursday starts with an R, and so does romance! Basically, I just love romance, in YA books, in adult, contemporary, historical, whichever the genre and sometimes I’m too lazy to write full reviews but I do love sharing fun quotes or just gushing about characters. So that’s what Romantic Thursday is for! To share my love. May it be through full reviews, quick reviews, or just fun quotes.
So for my first Romantic Thursday, you guys get a sorta full review and a few quotes (:

HE’S USED TO GETTING WHAT HE WANTS…
A former football star and one of Chicago’s top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan will do anything to nail a corrupt state senator, which means he needs Brooke Parker’s help. As general counsel for a restaurant company, she can get a bug to the senator’s table at one of her five-star restaurants so the FBI can eavesdrop on him. All Cade has to do is convince Brooke to cooperate—and he’s not afraid to use a little charm, or the power of his office, to do just that.
AND WHAT HE WANTS IS HER.
A savvy businesswoman, Brooke knows she needs to play ball with the U.S. Attorney’s office—even if it means working with Cade. No doubt there’s a sizzling attraction beneath all their sarcastic quips, but Brooke is determined to keep things casual. Cade agrees—until a surprising turn of events throws his life into turmoil, and he realizes that he wants more than just a good time from the one woman with whom he could fall terrifyingly, irresistibly in love . . .
This is the fourth book in the FBI / US Attorney series and a bit surprisingly I think this may be my favourite as of yet. Mostly because I wasn’t the hugest fan of Cade (in About That Night) and there were definitely other characters that I was waiting for their books, but Cade totally won me over. I thought he be all broody and coldish but turns out he just needed a good match. Brooke was a pretty fun character who was sassy and sarcastic and didn’t make it easy for Cade. I love seeing Cade and Brooke together because of all their banter and inside jokes.
This book was also a lot less intense plot wise (no major FBI-ing/ cases to solve) in comparison to the other books, so this one was definitely riding more on the the relationship aspect. I liked that there was nothing overly dramatic, just real people problems in the real world and not too much of the dragging on of the “oh he/she doesn’t/can’t love me, so I’ll be an idiot and not fight for this love and I’ll let them go” (which can really drive me insane). The humour of the book was pretty spot on for me and I love the little bromance between Cade and his younger half-brother Zach.
And because the dialogue was such a winner for me in this book, here are a few of my favourite moments in the books:
Brooke studied him. “You seem very ornery right now.”
“As a matter of fact, I am”
“I don’t know,” he huffed. “Just…east your Brooke Burger. Stop asking so many questions. Sometimes a guy just wants to buy a girl lunch. Any objections to that? Good. Enjoy your Sunday, Ms. Parker.”
He strode out of her office, gone as quickly as he’s appeared.
So ridiculous and cute. He actually got a burger and fries made specifically to match her and called it a Brooke burger! Came to give it to her and than basically ran away. AHAHA.
Cade thought about this. “Let me get this straight – you secretly pretend to like poetry to impress the smart girl in your English class, while she’s secretly pretending to like football to impress you.” He paused.
“That’s gotta be the cutest fucking thing I’ve ever heard.”
“I guess her subconscious finds my subconscious pretty irresistible,” Zach said, all teenage confidence right then.
Awwww. This brother bonding is just adorabes.
