It’s Romantic Thursday with Bookmunchies! So why is Thursday romantic? Because I like Thursday and I like romance! Basically, I just love romance, in YA books, in adult, contemporary, historical, whichever the genre and sometimes I’m too lazy to write full reviews but I do love sharing fun quotes or just gushing about characters. So that’s what Romantic Thursday is for! To share my love. May it be through actual full reviews, quick reviews, or just fun quotes.
Ahoy guys! Original I came up with this ‘meme’ so I could share my love for romance. It was suppose to be more than just reviews, but somehow that’s all it’s been. So I’m going to try a little harder to use this to do other stuff, like recs and discussions!
A few weeks ago I shared my favourite historical romances, this week we’ve to the contemporaries! For a really long time, I loved contemporaries/chick lit, but than a kind of stopped reading them as I got more in HR. I’m happy to say I’m getting back in the contemporary scene.
I currently have a few go favourite (adult contemp) authors (which I’m going to feature below, along with a favorite YA author!), but I’m also on the look out for some new ones, so let me know who your faves are!
I love, love this series! It’s got awesome action packed FBI-y/lawyer-esque escapades topped off with sizzling romance! They all can be standalones, but they’re set in the same universe and it’s fun to see the characters throughout the series. They’re light, laugh out loud romances with good action that’ll put a smile on your face!
“Where is Wilkins, anyway?” Cameron asked.
“In the living room, being accosted by eighteen women who think he’s a stripper. I thought it was best to duck in here.”
“So much for never leaving a man behind.”
“If he starts screaming, I’ll lay down a cover fire and go pull him out.” (Something About You)
Audrey’s head spun. “You puked in the alley? Wow. You must really like him.”
“Oh, God. Don’t say that.” Victoria bent her head over her knees and took slow, deep breaths.
“The vomiting seems to be her way of expressing her feelings toward Ford,” Rachel told Audrey.
“Aw. And they say romance is dead.” (Suddenly One Summer)
“First Pallas and now you,” the gray-haired man said, shaking his head at Nick. “It’s like I’m running a goddamn dating service around here.” (A Lot like Love – referring to all the hot FBI agents finding their true lurve, aaww.)
Lori Foster does super action packed suspense romance so well! Love Undercover is a more cops and suspense kinda romance, while Ultimate (which actually features someone that was introduce in the Love Undercover series) is about MMA fighters mixed with suspense. Both series are great reads, though there’s some books I like more than others (as would be expected) . Her older stuff is good too! (PS. Both series are also standalones in the same universe).
When need be, I can fight dirty, though usually I just fight for sport. But when it comes to you, I fight to win. (No Limits)
“I love seeing you all warm and aroused, waiting for me to take care of you. But I love it when your cocky like you were today with that idiot in the truck. Much as it scared me, it also impressed me.” He grinned at her. “I even like it when you’re all prickly, giving me a hard time.” (Dash of Peril)
“Let me leave you my number. Anything comes up, or if anyone bothers you-”
“You’re bothering me.” (Run the Risk)
Kasie West is the QUEEN of YA contemporary romance. With three books out so far, she has yet to fail me. They’re all super amazingly adorable and heartfelt reads with awesome, fun (and snarky) characters. The nice thing is it’s usually more than just the romance. (But for rizzle, the romances are utterly cute).
“Is that your subtle way of saying you missed me last week?”
“I’ve missed my hot chocolate. I just think of you as the guy who brings it to me. Sometimes I forget your name and call you hot chocolate guy.” (The Distance Between Us)
“Hey guys,’ I said. ‘Don’t be idiots. This is Evan. Evan, the angry-looking one is Jerom, the constipated-looking one is Nathan, and the goofball on the right is Gage.”
Gage laughed. ‘Constipated, Nathan? We said to look fierce.” (On the Fence)
“Should we play Twenty Questions?”
“How would that work in this situation?”
“I could try to guess your preferences.”
“My preferences in a kiss?”
I nodded, our faces still very close together.
“My preference is simple—you.” (The Fill-in Boyfriend)
