Welcome to Really Really Short Reviews were the name is long and the reviews are short! Because sometimes short is that much sweeter. (Also, because I’m really lazy!) And there might be quotes too (lots and lots)! (Because everyone loves quotes, right?)
Rendezvous With Yesterday (The Gifted Ones, #2) by Dianne Duvall
Series: The Gifted Ones #2
on October 17th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Fantasy, Historical, Historical Romance, Romance
Modern-day bounty hunter Bethany Bennett helps her brother track two fugitives to a forest outside of Houston, Texas. But what should have been a routine apprehension of two bail skippers spirals out of control and ends in violence. After Beth and her brother are both seriously injured, a mysterious figure suddenly looms over her. And, when the smoke clears, Beth finds herself not only in another place, but in another time.
As Lord Robert, Earl of Fosterly, attempts to identify and track down the nameless enemy who has been plaguing his lands and people with violence, the most peculiar woman stumbles into his path. Small, vulnerable, yet possessed of a bold, fiery spirit and wicked sense of humor, she persists in dubbing Robert and his men members of something called a medieval reenactment group . . . until she sees his castle and labels herself mad. It seems bounty hunter Bethany Bennett has come to him from the future, bringing with her laughter and chaos, swiftly winning the hearts of his people and inspiring within him a love he thought he would never experience again. But when Robert discovers a way for her to return to her time, will the love they share be enough to keep them together?
Rendezvous with Yesterday was such a fun time-traveling action-packed romance! It just oooooozed adorableness. Modern day bounty hunter Bethany Bennett ends up back in 1203 England after a near death experience and ends up in the arms of Lord Robert, Earl of Fosterly, and his knights.
I loved the romance between Bethany and Robert. It’s probably a little too perfect (with Robert literally being a knight in shining armor) but that’s easily looked over by the sweetness and fantastic chemistry between the two. Both characters are just so likable. I appreciated the real barrier of coming from different eras that these two had to figure out to get their happily ever after.
My favourite thing of the book is the hilarity brought on by the modern vs. medieval time era. Robert and his knights, Adam, Stephen and Michael are charming and funny and it’s absolutely hilarious seeing these adorable knights trying to kiss up to Bethany so they can see her modern technology that came with her. And trying to figure the lingo.
He had a cute slightly befuddled expression again. And she wondered if her was going to pretend he didn’t know what a bra was.
“‘Tis necessary, this bra?” he asked cautiously?
Overall, a sweet and funny time-traveling romance with loveable characters. I jumped into the series, so I think I’m missing out on some cameos and bigger arc storyline but it still easily reads as a standalone.
Plus I love a hero that talks to animal.
“Do you think she knew?”
Berserker snorted and nodded his head, as though confirming Robert’s thought.
“Well, I am certainly not going to ask her. ‘Twould only make things worse if you were mistaken”
“Do you always talk to your horse?”
a bum OT, procrastinator. reader. eater. sleeper. music listen-er. movie go-er. Loves food too much.
