Sunday Post (104) / Stacking the Shelves (84)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

Happy Chinese New Year to all you lovely readers! This holiday is actually one of my favorite time of the year. I love all the food (especially my grandma’s homemade brown sticky rice cake) and the lai see (which means more money for books). But, I also love the festivities that goes on throughout my surrounding neighborhood, even if it means getting stuck in traffic for over half an hour. Bleh! But, it’s the year of the sheep or goat or lamb…whatever floats your boat. Whenever I think of sheep in literature the only famous story I can think of is the Greek myth about Jason and the Golden Fleece though I’m sure there are more out there.

  1. Hope you are enjoying I Was Here. I read that one. I thought it was good, but it lacked a little of the emotional depth that was in If I Stay.

    1. Thanks Cynthia. Glad I wasn’t the only one that felt that way about I was Here.

  2. Happy New Year! Sticky rice cake sounds really good. I love things with red bean paste too. I posted a comment on your Tuesday Teaser about Outlander. I reread/listened to the whole series (exclusive of the novellas) this past year. Outlander Jamie is really the best.

    1. Thank you and you too. It is yummy. Anything with red beans is delicious. 🙂 I haven’t read Outlander before, but I’ve been hearing good things about the book and the show from Kim.

  3. Looks like you did like I did and tried to cut down the number of books you got this week. But looks like you’ve got some busy times coming up!
    Check out my STS

    1. LOL yeah I try to, but when the new books come out it’s hard not to want to get everything.

  4. Happy New year! Have fun buying your new books. I’m shopping for some now, checking my wish list to see which ones I’ll get this week. I’ve seen so many good books while commenting on everyone’s posts today.

    1. Thank you. You reminded me I should update my wish list. Looks like you’ve got some pretty interesting books yourself Laura.

  5. Happy New Year! I know very little about Chinese New Year but anything that involves getting more money for books is a good thing! Have a great week!

    1. Thank you. It’s hard not to spend all that money in one place.

  6. Happy new year ! It’s good to have more opportunities to buy more books AND enjoy brown sticky rice cake – never tasted it but now I want to 🙂

    1. Thank you! 🙂 It is. I hope you get to try some one day. It’s really really delicious.
