Sunday Post (119) / Stacking the Shelves (99)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

Sometimes I have a hard time knowing what book to pick up next after I finish one. Am I in the mood for a fluffy romance or a dystopian where I probably won’t understand all the gimmicks of that world? I know I can make one of those TBR jars, but then I end up adding all the stuff I want to reread in that jar and that doesn’t work because the whole point is to read something new. And the thing is I’m a semi-mood reader. If I don’t like a book I’ll just end up picking it back up at a later time. I hate giving up on books, unless the characters are like super whiney and immature then that’s a definite DNF.

  1. Looks like you have a very busy week coming up!

  2. Jackie

I always plan my week’s reading but it rarely ends up looking like planned. I often feel like reading this rather than that, so change my mind. Or… a new hard copy will arrive that’s about to be released so it jumps my TBR pile.

  3. I hate not being able to decide what to read next. Usually when am in that mood I do do a ‘re ‘read LOL it doesn’t usually help the matter but at least am reading something. The improbable theory of Ana and Zac I need to.check out. Have a great week 🙂

  4. I’m a total mood reader, and I don’t even think a TBR jar would work for me. I usually browse my goodreads shelves (I have genre shelves as well as fave authors shelves plus other ways to keep track of all my books) and then I start with something. But like you, I have become quicker at putting a book down if I don’t feel like I’ve been properly wooed.
Enjoy your new books, Jackie. Have a fantastic week and happy reading.

  5. I always have in mind what my next book will be because of reviews but sometimes I want to read something not planned. Have a great week and enjoy your books!

  6. I’m a mood reader too for the most part, and it is frustrating when you’re not sure what to go with. I seem to go in stages too, for a while it’s all YA then mysteries, etc.

    Have a good week ahead.

  7. Great haul! I can’t wait for Rook to come out. Happy reading. 🙂

  8. I try and plan what I am reading but it doesn’t always work out!

    Have a great week!

  9. I was in book slump and then I read an amazing book, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and now I’m bouncing between two books because I can’t decide which one I like better!

I struggle to figure out what to read next sometimes as well. Especially when I feel like I want to read ALL of the books so I can’t decide which one. Good luck figuring out what you want to read next!! And have a great week of course 🙂

  11. I’ve got to get ahold of Rook! Those are three good books you got there.
    Check out my Sunday Post

  12. That’s how I end up reading several books at once. If one doesn’t fit my mood, I read another, and then go back to it. It’s not always the genre as much as it is the atmosphere of the story.

    My Sunday Post –

  13. Awww the Improbably Theory of Ana and Zak looks like a cute read! I’m totally a mood reader as well, I pick up what I’m feeling at the time.

  14. I was struggling to figure out what book I was in the mood to read next earlier today. Finally I settled on The Wrath and the Dawn which I like so far. I’ll have to check out your review!
