Sunday Post (132) / Stacking the Shelves (112)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

I find it interesting how most stores are already getting out their Halloween gear when it’s not even the middle of September yet. Take for example, the other day I went into the Disney store and they already got out their Elsa and Anna costumes. Now I’m not saying that it’s bad that stores are getting ready for the holidays, but August just barely ended and I need proper time to adjust to the holidays. I can’t just jump from school already starting and oh look they have their Halloween packaged candy out already mode. I guess with the fact that most schools are starting in August, nowadays, it would make sense that people should get a head start on planning Halloween costumes.

  1. I’m even more depressed that stores have their Christmas stuff out in some places here. I’m in denial so ignoring it!

    1. Really? Mostly it’s Halloween and Thanksgiving stuff around here for me. Bringing out Christmas stuff is going a little bit overboard.

  2. I’m not super crazy about October- ish stuff being out already, but what can you do? I need a little fall adjustment time too… 🙂

    1. I don’t mind seeing the candy out, but the decorations is just a bit too much. I seriously think they put out October stuff earlier and earlier each year.

    1. Yay! Yeah I really wanted to like Ensnared, but in the end that ending just didn’t make it for me and it got kind of draggy to be honest.

  3. I recently got a new Kindle. Mostly because I wanted to upgrade, my other still works. So I guess I have two haha. It’s funny you mentioned the holiday decor because a store in my town put their Halloween and Christmas stuff out in August. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE the holiday season but, August! That’s just to soon. Anyway, enjoy your new ereader!

    1. I hope you enjoy your new Kindle. 🙂 Christmas and Halloween stuff in August? I guess I’m lucky that they don’t put everything all at once out in my town. August is definitely way too soon to think about the holidays.

  4. I’m okay about the Halloween stuff but the Christmas stuff is killing me! Particularly the books. I do not want to be reading Christmas books in September! Plus I like those Reese’s pumpkins enough that I’m all right with the rushing holidays. Have a great week!

    1. I don’t think I ever read a holiday themed book before, but while it’s annoying to see all the Halloween and Thanksgiving stuff out early I don’t think I’d mind reading a holiday themed book during September. Books are books. Yeah there are some holiday food and drinks that I don’t mind coming out a bit early.

  5. Around here they are putting out some Christmas at the same time as Halloween. I think they pretty much skip Thanksgiving. These are two of my favorite holidays but I do wish they’d put some space between them.

    1. Poor neglected Thanksgiving! ): Yeah I wish the holidays give us a breather in between. Definitely do not need the extra stress.

Shucks – I just read The Rogue You know and now i can’t remember the story…. ugh!

    1. I hate that when it happens. Maybe you can read the first couple of pages to see if it jots your memory? I find that that usually helps.

  7. So much fun buying a new e-reader! Of course they brought a new fancy Nook out, but I just bought the last new one, so I am not going to buy this one. I’m not. I’m not. I’m really not. 🙂

    1. Yes it’s fun. The only hard thing about it was choosing which ereader. I hope you enjoy your nook.

  8. Congrats on your new Nook! I love getting new ereaders 🙂

    1. Thank you! 🙂 It’s actually a bit stressful to choose one.
