Sunday Post (187) / Stacking the Shelves (167)

sundaypostThe Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

How is it that we’re already in October? It still feels like summer over here in LA than fall even though it’s officially fall. It was in the 100s earlier this week and yeah it just sucked. So, October…there’s so many things coming up in October. And also so many books I want to read comes out this month (like The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan and The Midnight Star by Marie Lu). I’m pretty excited about the books, but not the important adult stuff that I have to do next week. Which involves needle and blood and more needles (AKA hospital visit stuff); none of my favorite things. Anyways work hasn’t been too bad. Some good days and some okay days. We’ve been moving things around to make room for some awesome new reading tablets that the children librarian are getting. They look really cute, but it’s still weird to see kids with iPhones and iPads nowadays and that it’s the norm.

  1. I hope you enjoy Leave Me – I certainly did.

And I know what you mean about kids and technology… I’m constantly surprised at how young they’re accessing iPad and smart phones etc…

  2. Lots of people have been anticipating Crooked Kingdom a lot, so I hope you enjoy it in whichever form you choose to read it in!

  3. Yikes, I am sorry to hear about the not fun adult stuff you have coming (the doctors and needles, yuck!). Hope everything goes well for you!

  4. I hope you enjoy all the books you’re looking into reading! Good luck with the doctor and hope everything goes okay! You got this <3 <3 Also, I completely agree with you when it comes to kids with phones/tablets. It's so strange seeing it even if it's considered the norm. I can't help but to compare it to my childhood and it's like, okay, well, times are different. Do you know what I mean? It's strange to resonate with it or whatever. I am babbling and probably not making much sense but hopefully you get my general thought process.

Hope the week is good to you and again good luck with the doctor stuff!

  5. Gosh, there is always something going on, in adulting! And seriously though – where did summer go?! Where did the year go, for that matter? I can’t believe we’re almost to the end of yet another year. o_o I can’t wait to read Crooked Kingdom! I got my preorder goodies from Macmillan, but not the book. Yet. It’s coming! I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fabulous week, Jackie. 🙂

    Check out my STS post!

  6. Unfortunately, the first line of defense as a parent is to distract kids – even from infancy – with a device. This also takes away from the literacy and language that should be happening in those developmental ages that are so, so important. I am sure someone could do a study about it and why there is an insane increase in the number of kids saying “I hate reading” and never choose it as an activity.

  7. Eeek, good luck with all the stuff going on with your health Jackie. I’m also looking forward to reading Hammer of Thor but I don’t know when I’ll get around to it. I hope you enjoy CK, I can’t wait to read it!

  8. I love Riordan but have yet to try his Magnus Chase series and I haven’t found the time to pick up The Trials of Apollo either! I will get there!

Good luck with the health stuff this week – I hope it is all sorted out quickly.

  9. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says: Reply

Oh the weather has been starting to cool here and the leaves are changing. Nice to have the nice weather though. Hope you have a great week this week!
