Sunday Post (54) / Stacking the Shelves (34)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Ahoy.

Happy March! Except, even though it’s March, it’s literally been -40C here…-50C with the windchill ): So cold, whyyyy Saskatchewaaaaaan why!?!? I’ve decided to spend hopefully about 3 weeks in New Zealand with my friend and than go see my family in Australia for a month, so I’m looking forward to the nice weather in April. We read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie for book club, and I actually figured out the murderer!! It was exciting. We’re reading Day of the Triffids next, yeah sci-fi monster plants~

 BOOK HAUL

STSmall_thumb25255B225255DStacking the Shelves post! Hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, Stacking the Shelves is a chance to showcase new books, ones checked out from the library, bought, won or received for review.

Another slow week for book for me, but once again, I still have a bunch of ARCs I need to try to get done before I go on holidays & since it’s Take Control of You TBR list Challenge month, I have a few “oldies” I need to read too.

Bright Before Sunrise - Tiffany Schmidt(01) Bright Before Sunrise by Tiffany Schmidt

I’ve been waiting for this from the library! The book sounded so cute. I ended up reading in a day haa. Surprisingly, not terrible insta-love! Which made me happy. Hopefully I’ll spit out a review for this at some point.

Day of the Triffids - John Wyndham(02) The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham

So The Day of the Triffids sounds like an awesome sci-fi read. I wasn’t the hugest fan of  but this one does sound really cool (I mean, giant plants taking over the world!!) so hopefully it’s amazing. I’m reading this for my book club (:

  1. The cover for Bright Before Sunrise reminds me of The Geography of You and those sorts of books, they seem to be the rage at the moment. I’m glad you guys enjoyed The Winner’s Curse, I’ve heard amazing things lately!

    1. Oh yes, I can see that! yeah… the big font is definitely in right now. The Winner’s Curse was pretty crazy (good) haha!

  2. Man that’s cold. I thought we had it bad, but we just got in the single digits below zero. Day of the Triffids! I remember the movie (a long time ago) but have never read the book. Hope it’s good!

    1. Yeahh…it gets a little ridiculous here sometimes. I haven’t seen the movie, but maybe after the book haha. I hope so, too!

  3. That’s so cold I can’t even think about it, I’m freezing when the temperature drops to -5C here! Great books, I’m a huge fan of John Wyndham – Triffids is one of my favorites, along with Midwich Cuckoos but I didn’t really enjoy Chrysalids either!

    Happy reading 🙂

    1. It’s gets pretty ridiculous here sometimes haha, it just sucks when it stays into March :p I’m really hoping I love Triffids! I’ve only read The Chrysalids, but I wasn’t a huge fan though.
      Thanks (:

  4. MINUS 50 with windchill! Gosh, you gotta be kidding, I just complained to hubby after going out with the dog that it’s rather cold today, and I just looked at my outside thermometer which shows PLUS 10! I’ve never actually read an Agatha Christie, believe it or not. The cover of Bright before Sunrise is soooo cute.
Have a great week and Happy Reading!
    My Sunday post is here

    1. Haha, yeah, it’s pretty crazy here sometimes, you just got to really bundle up! This year was the first time I’ve read Agatha Christie, it was definitely worth checking it out 😉
      Thanks!

  5. I’d be freakin’ RUNNING for my life to NZ and Australia!!! That’s cold up there, even when I don’t translate Celsius (which takes me forever and involves slide rulers). You can blog from anywhere 😉

I’m with you on the “oldie” ARCs that I hope to bang out on the reading challenge, too. I had a slow week, too. Stay warm up there!!! My Sunday Post

    1. Me too me too! I’ll be there in their fall, but it’s still heaps warmer than my spring haha, so I’ll take it! I won’t have my laptop, but hopefully I’ll still get some blogging done (:

Arg, so definitely need to get those “oldie” done! Thanks! You, too!

  6. I can’t wait to hear what you think of The Winner’s Curse. It sounds like an interesting read.

    1. Review should be up Tuesday hopefully! it definitely was an interesting read! Thanks for stopping by (:

  7. I am so excited for The Winner’s Curse, it will be Tuesday! I hope you do get some good weather soon. Happy reading..

Jenea @ Books Live Forever’s Sunday Post

    1. I know right! I’m so excited for my hardcover to come in, the cover’s so prettttty! Thanks!

  8. It is nice to have just a few books in a week and play catch up. Here is my post: Mixed Book Bag

    1. I totally agree! It’s pretty relaxing 😉

  9. Okay, you have made me feel less sorry for myself. It’s been a long and snowy winter here, but nowhere near that freezing. Plus, I have a bad cold and am not feeling that great. On the plus side, I’m on the couch with a cup of tea, reading…
Good luck tackling that TBR and thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics

    1. Aww, everything is worse you have a bad cold, too! But Tea and reading sounds like a good remedy (: I hope you’re feeling better now. It’s kind of starting to warm up here haha. Thanks!

  10. I’m doing a Mt. TBR Challenge for the year, but I’m going to investigate the Take Control Challenge.

Enjoy your week…love the covers of your new ones. Here’s MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES

    1. Oh, good luck! I think the Take Control Challenge you mix with others, so it’ll be like a double whammy haha.

  11. Wow, I can’t even process the cold you’re talking about. Here in my corner of the world (a coastal town in Tuscany, Italy) we barely got any cold this year – only rain and wind.
I’m a huge Agatha Christie fan – Roger Akroyd is one of her cleverest books, so kudos to you for guessing the killer! I read it when I was a kid, so maybe that’s why I wasn’t able to do the same…but then again, I’ve rarely figured them out, and I’ve read all her books!
Going to comment on “Books Versus eBooks”. Have a great week!

    1. That does sound a lot warmer! Though I’m not a huge fan of rain haha. But I could suffer through that for some warm weather 😉
I think I only figured it out b/c my book club had just read And Then There Were None, and I was extra suspicious of everything thing haha, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have. Thanks for stopping by!

  12. The winter weather has been brutal in Iowa. Last night my husband compared it to the winters he experienced when he was stationed in Germany.

It will warm up soon. At this point, probably just in time for it get cold again.

    1. Oooh boy, that doesn’t sound too nice. Hopefully it’s warming up soon for the both of us! Winter can be so terrible sometimes.

  13. I’m also doing the Take Control of your TBR challenge. Lord knows my TBR pile needs to be smaller.

Stopping by from The Sunday Post. New Bloglovin’ follower.

Jessica @ Tales Between the Pages

    1. Yay! Good luck! Mine definitely needs a good trimming too haha. Just so many good books out there. Thanks for following!

  14. How fun you’re going to NZ and Australia. Can I go with? Nice haul!

    1. For sure 😉 Thanks!

  15. I’ve been seeing Bright Before Sunrise on a lot of blogs. And the reviews have been very encouraging. I’m glad you liked it!

    1. Thanks! I’m glad it lived up to the hype (: Thanks for stopping by!
