Sunday Post (74) / Stacking the Shelves (54)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Boring week for me. Mostly work, which was busy since it was the summer sidewalk sale. It’s been down pouring rain the last few days so that’s kind of a damper, but I did get in one nice night out on the patio with some friends for The Yard & Flagon’s Monday night burger and beer special (which was super yummy and cheap!).

STSmall_thumb25255B225255DStacking the Shelves post! Hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, Stacking the Shelves is a chance to showcase new books, ones checked out from the library, bought, won or received for review.

One for review, and picked up a few (:

Vicious by V.E Schwab x3 & Written in Red by Anne Bishop

Okay, all three copy of Vicious obviously isn’t for me, haha. Two are for my friends because it’s an awesome book and everyone should have a copy in their house! I also picked up Written in Red because everyone seems to love Anne Bishop and I’ve been seeing so many good things about The Others series, seemed like a good idea to check it out (:

Eleanor & Park (collector’s edition) by Rainbow Rowell and The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson

These ones technically aren’t for me. I picked up E&P for my little cousin, but now that I’ve seen the cute fan art inside, I’m super tempted to get it (even though I have a copy of E&P…and still need to read it, lol). And I got The Rithmatist for my brother / me. The excuse was I’m buying it for my brother…but basically it’s so I can read it. After totally loving Sanderson’s Steelheart (and now having to wait for more), I figured I might as well try out another series, ha.

The Traitor - Grace Burrowes

The Traitor (Captive Hearts #2) by Grace Burrowres

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca. I really enjoyed The Captive (my review), the first book in the series, so I couldn’t say no to this one. Hopefully it’s as cute as the first one!

  1. I’m kinda hoping Illusive will be as good as it sounds, have high hopes for that one. Should read Landline too, since it’s apparently pretty good… have a great week!

    1. Me, too! I’m about 1/2 way through, and so far, so good. Landline was a very sweet read (: Hope you enjoy both!

  2. I’ve been wanting to read The Rithmatist, too! I hope you and your brother both like it! 🙂 Look at all the Vicious!! Excited for that one, too!

    1. Thanks! I’m definitely excited to give it a go!
      Vicious is awesome 😉

  3. I keep hearing that Written in Red is good. I also want to check that out. Hope you enjoy it and your week.

    1. Hopefully it lives up to the expectations! I hope you enjoy it, too (:

  4. Just finished reading Magnolia early dawn today haha 🙂 and I really enjoyed it! It’s great that you picked up Anne Bishop. I’m almost finished with Written in Red and while I think it’s taking me long to finish this one, it is still a very worthwhile read. I love that Collector’s edition of Eleanor & Park!

    My Sunday Post

    1. Haha, yay! Such a cute read right?
Awsome, so glad to hear that Written in Red is a worthwhile read! E&P fanart is so adorable!

  5. I read Magnolia last week! I adored that book. I’ve been in a YA slump lately and that really turned it around. I’m on the tour on Thursday. 🙂

    Have a great week!

    My Sunday Post

    1. Yay! Glad to hear you adored it, too! I’m on tour for Friday!

  6. Looks like you got a nice bunch of books. I have Eleanor & Park on my Kindle and am tempted by the collector’s edition. Love the cover for Written in Red too. Come see what I got at Inside of a Dog and Ms. Martin Teaches Media. Happy reading!

    1. Thanks!
I have the regular edition, but the collector’s such so cute, so I’m tempted, too haha.

  7. I got The Traitor last week as well. I really enjoy reading Grace Burrowes. Eleanor and Park is a really cute read.

    1. I’ve really been enjoying Grace Burrowes new read, too! I need to start E&P soon!

  8. Well, there are worse things in life than three copies of one book. I have often been sent two or three in different incarnations (e-galley, bound galley, print/audio) so someone must like me.

    1. Haha, that’s for sure!

  9. That looks like a yummy burger! Looks like you’ve got some great books this week. I think I’ve bought a book for someone and then had to go buy another copy for myself (or sometimes another copy for that person depending on how it goes). Enjoy your new books! I’ve got to read Lady Grace and the Sabrina Jeffries book and am looking forward to them. Look forward to seeing your opinion!

    1. It was delicious 😉 Ha, that’s definitely happened to me before, it’s always good to share the love! Thanks! I just posted my review for Lady Grace, and I really enjoyed How the Scoundrel Seduces!

  10. Mmmm, yup I’m officially starving now after seeing that yummy burger & fries pic! Hope you enjoy your new goodies this week! 🙂

    1. Haha, it was pretty yummy! Thanks (:

  11. Ohmagosh, I’m drooling at that burger. NEED.

That’s a lot of copies of Vicious! And I, admittedly, haven’t read it yet! 🙂 I’ve heard great things about Anne Bishop’s series, too, so I’ll be interested to see what you think!

Have a great week Cyn! 😀

    1. Oh it’s definitely worth checking out! I’m hoping Written in Red it lives up to expectations!
      Thanks, Rachel (:

  12. I had a boring week too….you need to have those once in a while, right 😉

    My Sunday

    1. Agree, good chance to do nothing 😉

  13. I haven’t eaten a burger in like a year, I WANT A BURGER. The only copies I’ve ever bought for friends was All Our Yesterdays so I’m definitely going to have to check Vicious out now, aren’t I? And I still haven’t got any of Rainbow Rowell’s…yikes.

    1. Whaaaat!? I love burgers so much, haha.
Oh All Our Yesterday! Definitely a good book to buy everyone 😀 Yes, definitely check it out! Haha, don’t worry, you’ll get to her! And let know what you think when you do! 😉

  14. Great haul this week! I haven’t read Eleanor & Park yet either, but I bought it at YALC so that I could get Rainbow to sign it whilst she was there. I hope I end up loving it! Vicious is one I really want to read, have heard a lot of good things. I hope you enjoy all of your books this week 🙂 Here’s my STS.

    1. Aww, that’s awesome! I hope we both love it (:
It’s definitely worth checking out! Thanks!

    1. Me too! I love the art inside (:
