Sunday Post (85) / Stacking the Shelves (65)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello! Jackie here,

I’m finding myself rereading more books this year than I did last year. While I like reading new/debut books sometimes I get exhausted by reading new/debut books that I end up just wanting to backpedal and reread some old favorites. I will also reread a book if I know I’m going to watch the book to movie adaptation (for instance I reread The Fault in Our Stars before watching the movie, which was a terrible idea by the way). I love rereading, but if it’s a series sometimes I get burnt out by the rereading. Even if I have read the books before I will still need a breather in between books or it won’t be fun and it’ll end up being a drag. Do any of you reread books? Which book or series is your favorite to reread?

 BOOK HAUL

STSmall_thumb25255B225255DStacking the Shelves post! Hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, Stacking the Shelves is a chance to showcase new books, ones checked out from the library, bought, won or received for review.

This week I only bought one book and it was one of the ones that I was most excited for the most, even though there were a couple of new releases that came out on Tuesday I was also looking forward to; however, this one was priority number one. No matter how broke I am, I still had to get it.

Bought:
The Blood of Olympus (Heroes of Olympus #5) by Rick Riordan

  1. I want to find time rereading my old books too. I want to start with the famous Harry Potter. LOL!

  2. I really like rereading books! Sarah Dessen books are my favorites to read again and again. They’re quick stories that never get old. 🙂 I really want to do a reread of the Percy Jackson series soon. I haven’t started the House of Olympus series yet, but I intend to get to it eventually!

  3. I like to reread, although I don’t do it as much lately. Too many new releases- but I know what you mean, going back to an old favorite is like comfort food. 🙂

Trust Me, I’m Lying looks interesting. And the new Riordan looks good too.

  4. I most definitely re-read books. I’ve re-read more this year probably than the last year but since I started blogging I definitely re-read less than I used to. I love to read the physical copy of a book and then later down the road listen to it on audio. It’s a great way for me to re-experience the book, but in a different format, and listening to audio means I can do other things like cleaning and stuff at the same time so I’m not “wasting” my limited reading time. I definitely have to take breaks in between books in a series when I’m re-reading too.

  5. I reread two books this week. Like you, sometimes I need to revisit books and just enjoy them. I see Blood of Olympus! Everyone is talking about it right now! Maybe I’ll find the time to begin the series.

  6. I do enjoy rereading old books but I’m like you and can’t read an entire series back to back. I tend to burn out on them that way. Glad I’m not the only one. I really want to try the Percy Jackson series. I’ve never read any of them but I like the mythology angle. Have a great week!

  7. I’ve seen a lot of people reading The Blood of Olympus this week. I’ve read that series but I hope this installment lives up to your expectations =D

  8. I love to reread! I’m actually in the middle of rereading the In Death series by J.D. Robb…I always have one checked out from the library so that when I am in the mood I just grab the next one. Good stuff and I am loving see the beginning where all of the relationships between the characters formed. I hope that you have another great week of reading!

  9. I am not much of a rereader as I have to many new ones to discover. If i do reread something it is usually a beloved classic like Jane Eyre or Jane Austen’s books. 🙂

I so need to catch up with the Percy Jackson series since I have only read one of them..lol. 🙂

    Have a great week!
