Sunday Post (99) / Stacking the Shelves (79)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

It’s midway through January of the new year and I can’t believe I’m behind on my goodreads challenge already. :O I’m just kind of meh about it though. Maybe reading 195 books is a little ambitious, but I felt that 100 books was an easy challenge to complete last year. Though, sometimes I think I have too much time in my hands which is why 100 books is not a problem for me. After I complete my challenge I usually end up re-reading books I haven’t read in a while, which makes me feel kind of guilty because I know I can always something new. What do you do when you finish your GR challenge? If you aren’t doing the reading challenge on GR, how many books do you plan to read for 2015?

STSmall_thumb25255B225255DStacking the Shelves post! Hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, Stacking the Shelves is a chance to showcase new books, ones checked out from the library, bought, won or received for review.

I’m currently trying to finish all my books that I have on my e-reader as well as the leftover TBR books I have since last year, but I did borrow one book from work this week because I saw it on the shelf and I just had to get it.

Borrowed:
This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner

  1. You still have plenty of time for your challenge. I usually go over my goal, but leave it as is. Then I just adjust it the next year. I like to see how much I’ve read past my original goal. Have a great week!

    1. I usually go over my reading goal as well, but I never adjust it for the next year. That’s a good idea. I think I might try something like that for next year.

  2. I set a goal of 150 this year. I’m also focusing on finishing up series I’ve started. So far I’m ahead of schedule. You have plenty of time to catch up, and if you don’t, who cares? These goals are just for fun anyways!

    1. 150 sounds pretty good and yay I’m glad you’re ahead of the game. I hope you achieve your goal this year. I’ll try to remember that when I do these reading challenges. I just hate when I don’t reach my goal though.

  3. Ooh 195, good luck! I’m only doing 60…darn school getting in the way, haha. Yay for re-reading Cress! I think I might too before Fairest comes out. And I hope you like This Shattered World!

    Ps. How was your trip!!

    1. Good luck Cyn! 60 sounds reasonable. It’s hard to balance reading and school work. You should definitely re-read Cress before Fairest. My trip was so much fun, but tiring. Glad to be home. 🙂

  4. I really enjoyed This Shattered World. I hope you do too. The last couple of years I’ve only done 104 books for me Goodreads challenge. The idea is that 2 books a week is a good number for me, anything over that is bonus. I don’t stop reading after I reach that number, but I do feel like I can relax more once I hit my goal. And I do re-read periodically. Sometimes I just need to read a book that I already know how it ends. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks Sandy. I heard amazing things about This Shattered World so I’m looking forward to it a lot. I don’t know how many books I read in a week, but 2 books a week doesn’t sound too bad. You’ll definitely reach your goal in no time.

  5. I read more books..lol. I went over my 130 books last year so I upped it to 175 this year and if I go over it I will just still read more books…I don’t reread..unless it’s a classic or something..to many new ones to read. 🙂

    1. Good luck with your reading challenge Stormi. I haven’t re-read a classic in a while, but that is definitely true about too many new books to read.

  6. Jackie, I totally know what you mean about the GR challenge lol! My first year was 100 books, then last year was 120 and I actually read 138 books. This year I’ve dropped it back to 100, and hopefully aim for quality and not quantity. BTW I LOVED This Shattered World, hope you enjoy it as well!

    1. That’s quite an accomplishment Jeann. But, definitely quality over quantity. Sometimes I tend to forget that and go with quantity instead. Yay! Glad you enjoyed This Shattered World.
