“True memories are frail, fragmentary apparitions, easily bulldozed into submission by a robust narrative that has been carefully engineered to stick in the mind. Almost as soon as we’ve had an experience, we decide what we would like it to mean, and we construct a story around it that is going to make that possible. The story incorporates whichever relevant memories suit its purpose — positioning them strategically, like colorful brooches on the lapel of a black jacket — and discards the ones that are of no use.” (3% Nook)
The summary of this book is pretty darn interesting. And then to start us off like this? I have no desire to work and just want to keep on reading. Kudos to Ms. Hannah.

Name: Haden Lord
Age: 16? 17?
Hair: Dark brown, almost black
Eyes: Jade green (but sometimes look like they have bright amber rings around the pupils?)
Occupation: Part-time pirate.
After Haden is gone, I pick up the list of things I know about him and add sometimes talks like Thor. (53-54% eARC Kindle)
I worry my new stategy is failing. My online research into “how to get girl to like me” had suggested, time and time again, that to win a human girl over, I had to be mean to hear. I’d spent the bulk of the class either ignoring her, contradicting her, or acting liking a “bad boy,” which I gather meant showing off my muscles and leaning in my chair after saying something sexually derogatory. Ha, so I totally love that Daphne puts “sometimes talks like Thor” about Haden because he does. Best part of the book is definitely the hilariousness of the “fish-out-of-water” experiences by Haden and the fact that he just uses the internet/Youtube to learn things he needs to know about humans. PS. review at the end of the week.
Everything can be made better with a good book or some relaxing knits. 😀 Find me on IG @kimberlyh12 or on Twitter @enervated.
