“Waiting” on Wednesday: Princess of the Silver Woods

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are excited for.

Princess of the Silver Woods by Jessica Day George

Hardcover: 336 pages
Publication date: November 1st, 2012
Publisher: Blooomsbury USA Children
Add on: Goodreads

When Petunia, the youngest of King Gregor’s twelve dancing daughters, is invited to visit an elderly friend in the neighboring country of Westfalin, she welcomes the change of scenery. But in order to reach Westfalin, Petunia must pass through a forest where strange two-legged wolves are rumored to exist. Wolves intent on redistributing the wealth of the noble citizens who have entered their territory. But the bandit-wolves prove more rakishly handsome than truly dangerous, and it’s not until Petunia reaches her destination that she realizes the kindly grandmother she has been summoned to visit is really an enemy bent on restoring an age-old curse.

Jessica Day George’s cracked-fairy tale Princess series is definitely one of my favourite, so I was ecstatic to find out this one is a twist of Little Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood!! I am sad to hear that Princess of the Silver Woods in the last installment in the series though. Oh well, the cover is damn gorgeous!

  5. Oh! I saw it on NetGalley if I’m not mistaken. I haven’t requested it since it’s from Bloomsbury, and they don’t usually approve Canadian bloggers. Sounds good though. I’ll have to check it out once it comes out. Great pick!
