“Waiting” on Wednesday: The Mad Scientist’s Daughter

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are excited for.

The Mad Scientist’s Daughter by Cassandra Rose Clarke

Paperback: 270 pages
Publication date: January 29th 2013
Publisher: Angry Robot
Add on: Goodreads

The Mad Scientist’s Daughter is the heartbreaking story of the journey from childhood to adulthood, with an intriguing science fictional twist.

There’s never been anyone – or anything – quite like Finn.

He looks, and acts human, though he has no desire to be. He was programmed to assist his owners, and performs his duties to perfection. A billion-dollar construct, his primary task is to tutor Cat.

When the government grants rights to the ever-increasing robot population, however, Finn struggles to find his place in the world

This book has definitely been on a lot of peoples WoW I think haha. It sounds really good and I love that this book it toted as a sci-fi about a robot with emotions, for some reason it just really reminds of Frankenstein. I did enjoy Clarke’s The Assassin’s Curse so I’m definitely up for reading more of her works (while I wait for book 2 of The Assassin’s Curse)

Also, the ARC is up on Netgalley for anyone interested.
