Weekly Wrap Up (15)

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap-up with Bookmunchies. This is our weekly update that combines Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer‘s SUNDAY POST and Tynga’s Reviews‘ STACKING THE SHELVES. This is a post to share news, to recap the week on the blog, share new reads and new books, and upcoming fun for the week ahead!

Hey guys, Jackie here,

It’s almost summer, but I’m not sure if I’m looking forward to the 90 degree weather that comes with it. Work has been busy. The kids had half day all week this week and I almost forgot what a noisy library feels like. It’s strange that the librarians don’t reinforce the noise level (sometimes) and just let the kids scream until their parents tell them to be quiet (but they don’t usually because they’re talking to their friends). They don’t even reprimand the patrons who are on their cell phones even though you know that it’s not allowed to talk on the phone in the library. Once in a while I don’t mind the noise or background chatter while I’m working but it can be a distraction when I want to get certain things done before I leave work.

Anything new with you guys?

  1. Libraries can get surprisingly loud here too! I’ve noticed that a few times. Like why are those kids running around lol? It’s gotten warm here too, they’re calling for 90’s all next week. I’m not sure I want it that warm. 🙂

  2. Oh dear, screaming library D: nonono!
We usually have take-books-home libraries though, so no reading halls. Problem solved 😀

  3. I’ve never been to a loud library! Libraries and the movies are supposed to be noise-free, not even the annoying pop corn eating is allowed – I’m one of THOSE people, who can’t stand the sound of people chewing. I can relate to procrastination!

    1. lol personally I don’t mind eating at the movies since I tend to get hungry while watching a 2 hour some movie, but I never understood why people would be loud at a library when you know you’re not supposed to be loud in the first place.

  4. Oh that drives me crazy when people are like that. Oy. And yeah with you on the 90+ we’re having that here this week. Nooo!

    1. 90s is always a downer despite wanting warm weather. Stay indoors if you can.

  5. I can’t imagine a loud library! When I was young, the librarian at my town library would NEVER permit that! We are having a heat wave here. 90’s all week. I’m already over it. If it is this hot in June, that does not bode well for August!
Hope you have a great week!

    1. I wish our library is as quiet as yours. The only time our library is quiet is when the kids are all in school in the mornings and just before 3pm. lol I’m always scared of July and August because of the heat.

  6. Libraries and noise shouldn’t be a thing but at our local library they have lots of singing things for the kids that are loud!!

  7. Noisy libraries are one of my biggest pet peeves!! I understand in the kid section if it gets a little noisy – I take my toddler to the library sometimes and while he isn’t screaming, he’s 19 months and doesn’t understand “inside voice” yet, haha. But yeah, in other sections if it’s loud, it grates my nerves.

    Have a great week!

  8. People talking on their phone in the library would drive me crazy. I haven’t really noticed too much noise in my library. I do like my quiet. Have a great week!

  9. Our library runs lots of events of young children and allows the kids to make plenty of noise. My daughter loves it there and has all the staff wrapped around her finger. It’s not a large library and she has run of the whole place.

Hope you have a fantastic week!

    1. Same here, but I’m glad your daughter enjoys the programs. 🙂 I always envy that the little kids gets all the fun and want to join in.
