Weekly Wrap Up (23)

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap-up with Bookmunchies. This is our weekly update that combines Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer‘s SUNDAY POST and Tynga’s Reviews‘ STACKING THE SHELVES. This is a post to share news, to recap the week on the blog, share new reads and new books, and upcoming fun for the week ahead!

Hey guys, Jackie here,

It has been another hot and humid week in SoCal, which is crazy because normally we don’t get humidity here. The humidity makes it harder to go outside and do things with friends, but I am forced to go outside because of work. Anyways I’m at Universal Studios today so I will definitely be getting a frozen butterbeer to compensate for the horrendous weather. But, other than that, this week has been a pretty mild uneventful week at work. Though there was a pie party of sorts on Thursday to celebrate the completion of a super long project. Which I didn’t stay for because I don’t care much for pies. Though there’s this earl grey pie I’ve been thinking of trying at a pie place near downtown. Anyhow I also got to catch up with a friend, who I only see once a year, earlier this week and it was a blast.

Here at Bookmunchies we believe in being surprises for the week
(aka. we procrastinate, so we can’t tell you what’s quite coming up yet).

The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone: 2 of 5 stars (DNF) – The main character is kind of dumb, to be honest, and the grandmother was just an odd duckling.
Lady Renegades by Rachel Hawkins: 5 of 5 stars

Yay! I finally went to the bookstore and picked up a couple of books. It was a much needed trip. The funny thing is I can never find the books I want at B&N, but instead my local indie bookstore is definitely better stocked.

  3. It seems you’re having all of our heat! I just went off on my vacation and woke up to basically torrential rain 😀 where is my summer?

  4. Oh the humidity is awful. Its pretty much all we have here in SW Ohio. You start to get good at noticing the different between 95% humidity and 90% humidity. Its not a skill we are proud to have, but when you pretty much experience only these two differences, you get pretty good at it. Have a great week!

  5. Universal sounds like a lot of fun, and frozen butterbeer is a great treat for a hot day too. 😉 Enjoy the new books and your week. Happy reading.

  6. I have to be in the mood for pie. We have humidity here 90% of the year. It makes it tough to do things during day hours in June-August. I hope the humidity dissipates soon. How fun to meet up with your friend!

  7. Oh frozen butterbeer sounds good. I can always eat pie though, haha.

  8. Hope you enjoyed your Butter Beer! I went to the Wizarding World for the first time in February. Pretty cool place.

  10. Have fun at Universal! I’ve always wanted to go there. It’s hot and sticky here to but that’s the norm for the southern Gulf Coast. Stay cool:)

  11. Oooo, Universal Studios! I would love to go there one day. Well, California in general. I wouldn’t be too picky! I’ve never been further west than Ohio.

I hope you enjoy your new books! Have a lovely week, Jackie. =)

  12. oh I hear ya about the humidity, it does make everything pretty uncomfortable right? Its probably why I haven’t gone out very much this summer. Fall and Spring are nice though. That Earl Grey Pie sounds very interesting though.

  13. Humidity is the worst! Universal Studios sounds like fun 🙂 I am not much of a pie person either but I probably would have been able to find at least one to nibble on. Have a great week!

  14. Humidity can be nasty. Thankfully we rarely have it. Our temps continue to be fall like. Have a blast at Universal Studios. I would be spending all my time in the Harry Potter Wizarding World.
