Weekly Wrap Up (38)

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap-up with Bookmunchies. This is our weekly update that combines Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer‘s SUNDAY POST and Tynga’s Reviews‘ STACKING THE SHELVES. This is a post to share news, to recap the week on the blog, share new reads and new books, and upcoming fun for the week ahead!

Hi! It’s Cyn again!

So nothing too exciting to report from me, the weather is cold and we’re getting a lot of snow, so I just want to hibernate and watch Netflix, ha. I’m almost done season 2 of Stranger Things and than I’ll need a new show to start. Any suggestions?

I’ve been trying to teach myself how to play the ukulele via Youtube, it’s going not too badly, though my sister may say otherwise. Even though I’m in Canada, there’s already so many advertisements for big Black Friday sales, I don’t need anything, but sometimes it’s hard to resist a good deal. Is anyone scouting out for something they’ve been waiting for forever?

Here at Bookmunchies we believe in being surprises for the week
(aka. we procrastinate, so we can’t tell you what’s quite coming up yet).

Not Now, Not Ever by Lily Anderson (3.5 stars): A cute nerdy contemporary retelling-ish of The Importance of Being Earnest! Also WIN THE BOOK HERE!

The Mysterious Affairs at Styles by Agatha Christie (4 stars): Starting at the top of Piorot’s series!

After Dark by Haruki Murakami (3.5 stars): Been going back to some old favourite authors. His books are still weird but amazing.

  1. Renegades by Marissa Meyer

  1. Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
  2. Duke in Shining Armor by Loretta Chase

  1. In my 45 years, I have never gone Black Friday shopping. I did the December 26th thing ONCE, when I was pregnant, and it was horrible. I have totally embraced online shopping.

    1. I’m definitely embracing the online shopping, too! Less hassle!

  2. We got a bit of snow too, but just a dusting. I liked Stranger Things 2 a lot, but I don’t think I have any good suggestions- I need a new show too. 🙂

I almost never pay attention to Black Friday sales but this year I am kinda looking around for a few things.

The Mystrious Affair at Styles sounds fun, I need to read some Christie.

    1. Hope you find a good show soon! I’m still just watching random stuff, haven’t found my next new show yet either.
Christie is definitely worth checking out! Hope you enjoy her stuff!

  3. Yaaaassss, I got Unearthed as well! It sounds amazing, and I love the Kaufman/Spooner duo. I got Renegades too but I’m so overwhelmed by it! It’s such a big book. I hope you enjoy all of your new additions!

Have a fabulous week, Cyn. =)

    Check out my STS post!

    1. I didn’t realize how big Renegades was either! When it showed up in the mail, I was like ‘wooooow!’ haha. Hope you enjoy both books, too!

  4. It’s cold and snowy here too. I’ve never gone Black Friday shopping. That’s for crazy people. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    1. I really like that you can shop online now, waaay less crazy!

  5. I will say that since you are in Canada (which is awesome by the way, my family lives in Alberta so I have a great love for Canada) you are lucky not having to deal with the craziness of Black Friday. I stay inside all day, because people are crazy. hehe

I think its pretty neat you are trying to play the Ukele, its such a beautiful instrument.

    1. I lived in Alberta for a little while when I went to grad school, haha. But yes, definitely glad I don’t have to deal with the craziness. I really appreciate online shopping, haha.
Thanks, not so good yet, but it’s such a cute and great instrument!

  6. I’m not scouting for anything in particular, but I still have not figured out what to get The Man for Christmas. So if something pops up that makes sense for him, I’ll buy it. l think it’s so cool you’re teaching yourself to play the ukelele! You should keep practicing until you’re good enough to post your own video!

    1. I can only hope one day I’ll get that good, haha. Thanks for the words of encouragement 🙂

  7. I’m always tempted by the Black Friday sales but then I remember how much I hate crowds so I always resist. That is awesome that you’re teaching yourself the ukele! How fun! Have you tried The Good Place? It’s got Ted Danson and Kristen Bell and is completely weird but also light and funny. The first season is on Netflix so it might be a good change of pace from Stranger Things. Have a great week!

    1. Oh my gosh, yes, I love The Good Place! It’s so good! I haven’t started season two yet because I want to binge watch it haha. Hope you had a great week, too Katherine!
