The highly anticipated third novel in the Searching For series from Jennifer Probst, “one of the most exciting breakout novelists” (USA Today), featuring a runaway bride and the man who wants to be more than just her best friend…

Genevieve MacKenzie has her life completely under control. About to wed the charming Chief doctor at the local hospital, she’s an up-and-coming surgeon with everything she could ever want. Until an escape through the church window on the day of her wedding sends her life into a tailspin…and flings her right into her best friend’s arms.

When Wolfe catches his best friend falling out a window on her wedding day, he doesn’t ask questions. He whisks her away, determined to watch over her and discover the truth behind her desperate escape. But when his feelings turn more than platonic, he realizes he may risk his most important relationship in order to protect his damaged heart, and the woman he loves.

Can Genevieve and Wolfe’s friendship turn into something deeper—or is it already too late for true love?

At some point after having started the Searching for series, I decided I would check out Probst’s series Marriage to a Billionaire And I’m glad that I did, because that was when we got introduce to our bad boy (now super successful) hero.

Wolfe’s all grown up and he’s in love with his best friend who just so happened to be getting married (to someone else). But he get’s his chance at true love when there’s suddenly a runaway bride situation on his hand.  Gen, a surgical resident, ready to marry the charming Chief doctor suddenly has a case of cold feet, so she escapes out the window…right into Wolfe’s arm, sorta.

“Umm, babe? Are you pulling a runaway-bride thing? Or did you just want to confirm the fire exit worked?”

On the run from everyone, Wolfe and Gen get a chance to re-kindle their friendship and fan the fires of romance (ha, so sorry for that corny line). Wolfe and Gen are a pretty cute couple and being childhood friends kept it from feeling too insta-lovey. Wolfe is such a great guy, and he shows just how awesome he is by being an amazing friend. Oh and did I mention he’s super charming, too? Gen is sweet and bubbly and afraid to disappoint anyone, so it was nice to see her become a much stronger and resilient person throughout the book.

With the cute parts also comes the kind of dark times. We soon find out that fiancee David is not as perfect as he seems to be, actually he’s quite manipulative and kind of a terrible person. I’m sad that we didn’t get a better resolution with his part of the story. Parts of the story was also a bit drab and slow, where I just didn’t care too much about what was going on. However a trip to Italy to see Mama Conte (and cameos from characters from both series), put a smile on my face.

Overall, Searching for Beautiful was a lovely story about two friends who were perfect for each other, but just took a few detours before they found their way to a happily ever after. Though it didn’t end up being my favourite, it is still a nice addition to the series. And I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes out for the next book since it’s Arilyn and Petty! So much bickering, tension and scorching attraction…

“Beautiful. I’m searching for something beautiful out there.”
