Choose the one guy you can’t have . . .

As captain of a San Francisco Bay tour boat, Pru can handle rough seas—the hard part is life on dry land. Pru loves her new apartment and her neighbors; problem is, she’s in danger of stumbling into love with Mr. Right for Anybody But Her.

Fall for him—hard . . .

Pub owner Finn O’Riley is six-foot-plus of hard-working hottie who always makes time for his friends. When Pru becomes one of them, she discovers how amazing it feels to be on the receiving end of that deep green gaze. But when a freak accident involving darts (don’t ask) leads to shirtless first aid, things rush way past the friend zone. Fast.

And then tell him the truth.

Pru only wants Finn to be happy; it’s what she wishes for at the historic fountain that’s supposed to grant her heart’s desire. But wanting him for herself is a different story—because Pru’s been keeping a secret that could change everything. . . .

Aw gawd, this was such a cute read! Jill Shalvis is one of those authors I’ve been meaning to check out for quite a while now and after I read the blurb for this, I knew I had to give it ago. Definitely glad it didn’t disappoint.

Sweet Little Lies is such an adorable and fluffy fun summer-time read. Set in the San Francisco bay area, but still with a tight-knit community feel, Pru (ship captain and self-proclaimed Fun whisper, haha) has recently moved into the Pacific Pier building, were she’s made a lot of new friends, including one, very hot, Irish bar owner Finn.

I love Pru and Finn. Both of them have mad crushes on each other but are a little to hesitant to do anything about for a while until a hilarious dart incident sets of the sparks! They are just two very cute people who than are freak’n adorable when together.

“How did I get here?”

“You fainted,” he said.

“I most definitely not!”

His lips twitched. “Okay, then you decided to take a nap. You weren’t feeling the walking thing so I carried you.”

And there’s of course lots of cute banters and hilarious shenanigans.

No one handled him. Ever. And yet Pru just had, like a pro. Which meant he sat here squished into the dumbwaiter in only his unbuttoned jeans, his shirt in one hand, his shoes in his other, wondering – What. The. Fuck.

Fairly minimal angst throughout the book, which is always a bonus. Pru does have a “big secret” (which we as readers figure out pretty soon), but does causes some problems. I really did like that Pru and Finn are both real people with real issues, and their story is really heartwarming.

Oh lets talk about the secondary characters! Y’all know they’ll get their own books and I’m so happy! In the Pacific Pier building, there’s a whole crew of friends and I love the camaraderie. They all have their own personalities and a hint of what’s to come with their stories. Oh and how can a forget the most adorablest character in the book! Thor, the 25lb dog with the biggest personality, and people seem to confuse him as a cat sometimes. He’s Pru’s best friend and they’re so sweet.

Thor set his head on her shoulder. He loved her no matter how stupid she was being.

Overall, this was a very cute and enjoyable read, perfect for when you’re in need of some summer romance! I’m definitely excited for more Jill Shalvis and Heartbreaker Bay!

“I don’t even just what happened.” she told it. But she totally did – she’d just complicated things even more. And in an irreversible way, too. Dammit, she was supposed to be fun whispering him. Instead she’d fun whispered herself!
