“Pure Galen: a lively pace, wonderful repartee, colorful dialogue, a marvelous cast of characters and…emotional depth with just enough humor to make you smile and cry.” —RT Book Reviews, Top Pick, 4 ½ stars for Earls Just Want to Have Fun

She’s beyond his reach…
Gideon Harrow has spent his life in London’s dark underworld-and he wants out. A thief and a con, he plans one last heist to finally win his freedom. But when everything goes wrong, he finds himself at the tender mercies of one of Society’s most untouchable women-Lady Susanna Derring.

…and out of her depth.
Susanna has spent her life in London’s glittering ton, under the thumb of a domineering mother-and she wants out. When a wickedly charming rogue lands at her feet, she jumps at the chance to experience life before it’s too late. But as she descends into London’s underworld, she finds that nothing- not even Gideon-is as it seems. As excitement turns to danger, Susanna must decide what price she’s willing to pay…for the love of a reformed thief.

This is the story of how I died.

Yup the book starts like this. Dun dun dun.

Another fun and cute read from Shana Galen! This is the second book in the Covent Garden Cubs series and features Gideon and Lady Susanna (who we both meet in the first book of the series, Earls Just Want to Have Fun).

This book really reminded me of Tangled. Susanna has always tired to be the perfect daughter, leaving her isolated from the world, never getting to experience life. Gideon is a thief who’s planning on doing one last heist to win his freedom and live a new life. The two cross paths when Susanna blackmails Gideon into taking her to the Vauxhall in exchange for returning the treasure she managed to wrangle and hide from him. Shenanigan ensues! Including a scene that was very similar to this.

Tangled - I've got a dream

Gideon and Susanna are pretty different people in totally different classes, so it made for interesting chemistry. Gideon is the charming thief who’s a bit jaded whereas Susanna is sheltered and almost a little to naive but they really manage to balance each other out. This adventure actually happens over a very short period of time, making the romance a little speedy but still fun and lighthearted with a few of serious moments. Like in Earls Just Want to Have Fun, there’s some danger in the mix with the some of the cubs.

Overall, the romance was quick, but sweet and it was topped off with a whirl-wind of adventure of suspense and cuteness. If you’ve enjoyed Shana Galen’s romance before, you’ll enjoy this one!
