Sunday Post (114) / Stacking the Shelves (94)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

May is my favorite month because it’s my birthday month and all the books I’ve been anticipating is out. The one I’m looking forward to the most is Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen. I did put myself on a book buying ban last week, but since it’s birthday month I’m unbanning myself from the ban. Though I can’t ban myself in June either because that’s when Meg Cabot’s Royal Wedding is out. Argh, so many books to look forward to. And it’s almost summer which means the never ending heat here in Cali. Time to discover new ice cream places. What books are you guys looking forward to in May?

The READS & Announcements

Read/Currently reading:

[Read] Ignite by Sarah B. Larson: 3 of 5 stars. I loved the action, but I disliked the romance of the story (kind of a surprise for me since 95% of the times I will read the book for the romance).
[Currently rereading] Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling: I totally failed on rereading this book last month. Hopefully I can finish this reread this month.

Things to follow!

  1. I enjoy May – July as it’s winter here in Australia and where I live (in Queensland) it doesn’t get TOO cold so is lovely!

    Have a great week.
    Deb

    1. I always find it so interesting how Australia weather is opposite from ours, but it must be so cool to see snow in July there.

  2. I live in Cali as well and yes this summer will be a record-breaker for hotness, I just feel it. Have a great week ahead and try to stay cool.

    1. I know right? Some days it just feels like it’s summer already until the cold weather hits again. Crossing my fingers that we won’t melt from the heat this summer.

  3. I like any month without snow in it. Really! Won’t any of those books be at your library? I hate buying books because I read them too fast and used to spend so much. But the library was a way to read, and re-read, the writers I want to read without breaking the bank.

    My post is: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2015/05/time-machine.html

    1. Ahah we don’t have snow here unless you go all the way to the mountains in the winter. Though winter is a bit tricky in Cali. I’m pretty sure they’ll have the books since they’re by popular authors, but I like not having to wait for the books to come in. I’m the opposite. I don’t read bought books until like a couple of months later because I check out way too many books from the library.

I have When sitting on my shelf, just waiting for me to read it. Hopefully I can get to it soon cause it sounds really good 🙂

    Have a great week!

    1. Yay! I’m currently reading When and it’s intense. I hope you get the chance to read it soon.

  5. I read Goblet of Fire in a weekend when it was first published. I remember almost falling when I got up off the sofa because I’d been sitting curled up for so long! Not recommended.
Here’s my post, and I also have a giveaway right now.
    Have a good week!

    1. That must’ve been a long reading marathon. Thanks for the advice Elizabeth.

  6. I had to laugh when you mentioned putting off your book buying ban again and then again. I do that too. LOL
I have three stacks of books staring at me right now. I plan to grab the first on each stack and get reading in no particular order.

    1. Yeah May and June are going to be tough to be on a book buying ban. I hope you get through those stacks of books soon.

  7. Lol book buying bans are hard, I think I do better if I just don’t check out the bookstore because everytime I walk in I end up walking out with something! Have a lovely week ahead Jackie!

    1. They are and it’s even harder to talk yourself out of it when you have a coupon. That’s a good plan Jeann, but it’s also hard not to check out the bookstore too. There’s no win-win situation when it comes to books is there?

  8. Your book haul is the total opposite of mine this week. Something I need to try to do better with! And I’m not even buying books, I’m just getting them free or as egalleys. 🙂 Hope you have a great week!
    Check out my Sunday Post

  9. My birthday is in May too! It was May 3. When is yours? Let’s hear it for May birthdays! Ha. I also had placed a temporary book ban on myself. Well a friend got me a $25 Amazon gift card. However, I could not help myself and I bought about $30 worth of books from my own money also. Oh well, it’s my birthday, right?

    1. Happy belated birthday! I hope you got some awesome bookish presents. Mine is on the 14th. Nice! And yes birthdays are always a good excuse for more books.
