Sunday Post (193) / Stacking the Shelves (173)

sundaypostThe Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

According to the doctor I had a bit of pneumonia. After taking some antibiotics I’m feeling a lot better and was able to go to work this week. The work was pretty uneventful. So they’re already playing Christmas music on the radio. I know I’m surprised. It doesn’t even feel like the holidays are approaching with the warm temperatures here in SoCal. Every year they start playing Christmas music earlier and earlier and I feel so rushed to start on Christmas present shopping…as if I’m not stressed out enough already. Though I guess it make sense to start playing it early this year because the result of the president election upsets many people so a bit of holiday cheer is needed.

  1. Pneumonia? Good grief! I hope you feeling as close to 100% as possible. My take on Christmas music – I love it, but AFTER Thanksgiving. *Maybe* a day or two before. But not this early! o_o

I loved Heartless! I bet the hardcover is super shiny and wonderful. 😀

    Have a lovely week, Jackie!

    1. Thank you. I think if they played Christmas music a day or two before Thanksgiving would be perfect, but it’s definitely nicer if they started playing on Thanksgiving.

Yay! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it.

  2. Lol about the election- yeah maybe the music will help. 🙂 It does seem early though… although I can’t believe Thanksgiving is almost here. I don’t have cable but I hear Christmas movies have even been showing up…

Hope you’re feeling better, and have a great week!

    1. So far it’s definitely a good distraction. I can’t believe it’s here either. Wow! That’s super early for Christmas movies to show up…though I have seen a couple of Christmas commercials already so I shouldn’t be surprised.

  3. We have Christmas music on the radio here in Alabama too. Of course it doesn’t feel like the holidays here either, but the Christmas music helps. I hope you have a complete recovery from the pneumonia.

    1. Thank you. Yeah I definitely agree with you that Christmas music helps make it feel more like the holidays are approaching despite the weather.

  4. I am so sorry to hear that you haven’t been well. I am certainly getting into the Christmas spirit as well and I look forward to all of my holiday reading! Have a great week! 🙂

    1. I hope you enjoy your holiday reading.

  5. I’m not quite ready for Chrismas but I agree, we need a little cheer. Hope you feel better soon.

    1. It’s a good distraction from everything that’s happening lately. Thank you.

  6. It is never too early for Christmas music! I’m glad you’re feeling better and hope you have a nice week.

    1. Hahah I think otherwise, but I’m glad someone doesn’t dislike having Christmas music on early. Thank you.

  7. Ow wow. It’s good to hear you are feeling better. That’s nothing to play with. I watched for the first Christmas commercial. LOL They sure don’t waste any time.

    1. Thank you. High five. I’ve seen so many this week already. I especially love the one with the adults getting the car for Christmas and they’re acting like kids and the kids acting like grown ups watching over their parents.

  8. The store where my son works put Christmas decorations out at the beginning of September! Ugh. I need to read Girl Against the Universe. I am glad to see you loved it. Keep feeling better and have a wonderful week. 🙂

  9. oh I am so sorry to hear about having Pneumonia, that can be tough to recover from depending on how bad it got for you. My dad just got it, and yeah its scary stuff!!! Hope you recover quickly from it. I get it how the holiday cheer, I think everyone wants something happy and joyful to focus on with all the hate and violence that has been happening. Hope you have a wonderful week!!!

  10. Hope you continue to feel better. I’ve never had pneumonia, but I’ve had bronchitis a couple of times and it is awful.

They have the big Christmas aisle up at the grocery store already, and I have to avoid it due to the heavy scents it exudes.

    Sunday Summary #28

  11. Nope. Nope, nope, nope. We’ve got Christmas decorations up in the shopping mall already, but thankfully no Christmas music yet. I LOVE Christmas music, but even I refuse to play it before December 1. I just don’t want the magic to wear off! If Christmas lasts too long, it just doesn’t feel quite as special to me! A month of non-stop Christmas music is good enough for me. 🙂

  12. Oh no on the ick! Hope you’re feeling better soon. We’ve gotten cold here in NC (hit a low of 28 the other night) so it’s feeling rather festive and Christmasy already 🙂
