Sunday Post (72) / Stacking the Shelves (52)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Nothing too exciting from me this week. Just enjoying the lovely summer heat (which means BBQs and popsicles!)
IMG_3049I’ve kind of been on a reading slump *sigh, which is hard because I need to finish Lexicon for my book club and I should be probably be reading more of Kiss of Deception, too. Hopefully I’ll find the right book to get me back on track soon!

STSmall_thumb25255B225255DStacking the Shelves post! Hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, Stacking the Shelves is a chance to showcase new books, ones checked out from the library, bought, won or received for review.

Nothing for review (which is good, because I think I’m getting really behind), also kind of a reading slump, so I picked up a bunch of Mangas that I need to catch up on!

Seriously, I just love One Piece, it’s easily my favourite. I’m always super behind though because I hate trying to read them online, so I always wait for the library to have the volumes.

The Wallflower! Is also one of my tops. It’s a story about an awkward girl stuck living with four “flower” boys, and hilarity ensues all the time (;

Soulless Vol 3 – If you guys don’t know, Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series has actually been turned into a manga, each volume match up with each book. I think Vol 3 is the latest one (which is Blameless), so there’s at  least two more to go. The mangas are really good and close to the book, definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of Carriger.

  1. Oooh, I really want to read Kiss of Deception but I just don’t know, there’s mixed reviews. The manga looks like it would be perfect for the reading slump! I have wanted to check out the Parasol Protectorate series for a while, but haven’t had the chance. Have a lovely week!

    1. Yeaah, there’s been a lot of mix, but I’m hoping I’ll be on the love it side, haha. Yes, the manga was prefect I miss reading them.
Parasol Protectorate is hilarious and definitely worth checking out! Or at least the manga if you don’t have as much time, b/c it follows the books pretty closely!

  2. I’m hearing all these freakishly good things about Kiss of Deception. It makes me so so curious. x) POPSICLES THOUGH. Yum.

    1. I’m definitely curious, too! Been seeing kind of mixed reviews, but looks like those who love it, really love it!

  3. Book slumps are the worst. Sorry you’re not into it right now. Just have to find the right book for your mood–at least that’s usually the way it is for me. But I really enjoyed The Kiss of Deception. It was very different than I expected it to be. Happy reading!

    1. Agree, thanks! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Kiss of Deception, I’m excited to get into it (:

  4. I’m afraid I’m heading towards a slump. Having a hard time getting interested in a book. I’m not sure if it’s bad choices or a mood thing. Hope you bust out of yours very soon! The popsicle looks yummy!

    1. Oh no! I hope you’re not stuck in it for too long either!

  5. I hope you’ll get back to reading soon. Enjoy your new books and hot summer!

    1. Thanks! I’m so happy for the hot summer, haha.

  6. I’m in the LOVE camp with Kiss of Deception and if you’re around 20%, that’s where there is a lull. Now, if you just don’t like or have any love of high fantasy/any fantasy type of books, you may want to just step away. Step away from the book… tee, hee 🙂

HOLY manga!! Our library carries Wallflower but we don’t have One Piece – should I tell them to order it? Would a lot people be interested in it? I knew about Parasol 🙂

Here’s to slumps… *cheers* Hope you find THE book!

    1. I’m glad to hear you loved it! I’m usually a huge (high)fantasy fan, so I’m hoping I’ll end up in the love camp, too, haha.

I adore One Piece!! It’s totally more the action-y, full-on big arc stories, epic manga but it’s also wonderfully hilarious, to boot!

  7. Manga! My son would be so jelly! Ya know now I want a Popsicle in the worse way now. Have a wonderful week!

    1. He’s a big fan of mangas too?
It’s always a perfect time for popsicles 😉

  8. I’ve been wanting to get into reading Manga but I have yet to decide what series to pick up! Great haul!
    Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian

    1. There’s just so many choices in the Manga world! I hope you find one you love!
      Thanks (:

  9. That Popsicle looks soooo good. I would love to be eating it right now. I love your manga haul!

    Sunday Post/a>

    1. I definitely want to try to make more favours! Thanks (:

  10. That Popsicle looks delicious right about now, it’s sooo hot and humid here. I HOPE YOU LOVE THE KISS OF DECEPTION!! I seriously enjoyed it, despite the hint of love triangle that was detected. I hope it’s stays non-love-triangle-y throughout the series ;D Happy reading!

    Have a fabulous week!

    Check out my STS post!

    1. Popsicles are just the thing for hot and humid! I’m glad to hear that! Because I’m a little nervous about the LT. Let’s hope that it’s LT-free!!

  11. I am excited for your Kiss of Deception review!
Missie @ A Flurry of Ponderings

    1. Aww thanks! Hopefully it’ll be done for Friday, haha.

  12. I had no idea that it was being turned into a manga. That is awesome. I have always wanted to read that series. Have you read the manga yet?

    Happy Reading!

    1. I have! It’s quite similar to the books. It’s really good, and definitely worth checking out if you don’t have time to read the novels 😉
