Sunday Post (82) / Stacking the Shelves (62)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello again!

Jackie here. No matter how bad a TV show or a book is I’m the type that will continue to read the book/watch the show. For example, I know a lot of people dislike Sailor Moon Crystal because of the animation, but with every episode it’s growing on me and I like how “updated” and how much it follows the manga despite the nagging character development I have with it. As long as it’s cute, entertaining, and have characters I’m growing to love I will continue with the book or show. And if you watch Sailor Moon Crystal, I really liked this week’s episode and looking forward to when Sailor V makes her appearance because that’s where the action really starts.

  1. LOL, Looking at your new books, I’ve just realised something! I have been mixing up Kat Zhang and and Amy Zhang. I really want to read Echos of Us as I’ve enjoyed previous books by Kat. And I like the look of Falling into Place and don’t think I’ve read anything by Amy before. The Vault of Dreamers is on my TBR as well. Enjoy your books 🙂

    1. It’s confusing when authors have the same last names. I hope you get a chance to finish Echoes of Us. I think Falling into Place is Amy Zhang’s debut novel. Yay for The Vault of Dreamers! That book was a fun and thrilling read.

  2. I received Echos of US from the publisher but haven’t read the previous two novels but it sounds like a cool series so I might have to get the other two and give it a try.

    1. You definitely should give it a try. the series is a bit confusing at first, but the plot was super intriguing that it was hard trying to put it down.

  3. I’m beginning to get like that, I’m sticking things out a lot more than I used to, especially with books, I’d usually leave them if I was bored 50 pages in, and sometimes after the first chapter, you know, when you know you won’t like the book by that one chapter, but now I’m sticking to at least half the book before I leave it, haha. Shows too, if it wasn’t keeping my attention after 5 episodes, I’d say buh-bye, but now I’m sticking until the 9th episode. Which has actually been where I usually get into a season, like I did with Haven, Sleepy Hollow and a few others. 🙂 I’ve been hearing a few mixed things about Falling into Place, so haven’t gotten to it yet. Happy reading! 🙂

    1. That’s good to hear Kirsty! I usually feel guilty if I get bored by the book. I try to be optimistic and will stick with it, but it is true when you know if a book isn’t going to work out for you. 5 episodes is a good judgement. I usually watch the 1st episode and if the 1st episode didn’t impress me I’d say good bye and move onto something else. I haven’t watched Sleepy Hollow, but I’ve heard good things about that show. 🙂 Same. I’m hoping Falling into Place will be good.

  4. Nice stack of books. I see so many great books here.

    1. Thank you Grace. 🙂

  5. I hate to give up on books and shows as well though I’ve become a bit more ruthless about it lately just due to time constraints. Looks like you got some interesting books this week. Have a great week!

    1. Definitely with the lack of time you can read so many other books or watch other shows that are better.

  6. I see a few new authors I’d like to check out and the cover for Falling Into Place is nice.
I’m looking forward to some of my favorite shows returning. Tomorrow night is The Big Bang Theory. I just love those guys and Sheldon reminds me of my son, though he’s less of a talker. My son, not Sheldon. LOL
Here is my Sunday Post –

    1. I love the cover for Falling into Place. LOL I haven’t seen Big Bang Theory, but it is on my to be watch list. The show sounds interesting.

  7. Ahhhh, two books I didn’t like, two I’ve never heard of. Actually, I kind of liked The Vault of Dreamers. It intrigued me. Falling Into Place? Flat-out hated it. But. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!!

    Have a fabulous week 🙂

    Check out my STS post!

    1. Sorry to hear that you hated Falling into Place. I’m kind of curious about that one. The Vault of Dreamers was definitely intriguing though.

  8. Nice haul you got there ♥

    Newly Owned to Read! #3

    1. Thank you. 🙂

  9. I need to catch up with Sailor Moon Crystal, I was doing recaps of them but haven’t even seen the Jupiter episode yet. Oooh I’ve been wanting to read The Vault of Dreamers, I hope you enjoy it! Falling into Place was one I enjoyed as well. Have a lovely week ahead!

    1. I hope you get all caught up soon. The Jupiter episode was great. Although I still don’t like the animation of the show, it does follow the manga pretty well. I’m hearing mixed reviews about Falling into Place, but that’s great it is one that you enjoyed. 🙂
