Sunday Post (91) / Stacking the Shelves (71)

sunday postThe Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hello, Jackie here,

Sometimes when there’s a movie I really want to see I have to think twice about going. For one reason or another I’m not the biggest fan of stepping inside the theater. Watching If I Stay at the theater reminded me of why I disliked going to the theater (i.e. it annoys me when people laughs at all the wrong places and you’re like really people this is an intense situation why are you laughing when you’re supposed to put on your serious face??). However, I’ve been hearing positive things about Mockingjay and surprisingly the movies are done pretty well for this book. Since I have watched these movies on DVD borrowed from my library I’m pretty sure I will continue this route with the last two films. If you watched it did you like it? What were your favorite scenes in the film?

  1. I’m not a big movie person but I definitely agree about preferring to watch them at home! I don’t want to watch a tearjerker in public because I’m not a pretty crier. That and all the talking and phones being lit up has made me decide that home is definitely the way to go! Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  2. I’m not a theater person either. I am much more likely to buy the DVD and watch in the comfort of my home. That is my plan for Mockingjay. I got Jackaby this week but it’s for my TBR stack. I don’t know when I will get to read it. Happpy reading!

  3. I personally like going to the theater before someone tells me all the little things added or deleted, but I definitely see where you are coming from! Oh and whenever you do get to see it, I think you will be pretty pleased, because it translated really well on the big screen.

  4. I kinda want to see Mockingjay even though I haven’t read the books. I like going to the movies but don’t go that often- too expensive! But if it’s a movie I really want to see I’ll splurge.

  5. I hope you are enjoying Jackaby! I thought it was a fun read. I really loved Mortal Gods! Kendare Blake is one of my very faves…enjoy the books!

  6. I’m not a big fan of movie adaptation. I tend to be disappointed after watching it so I stay away from those. Lol 🙂

  7. I’ve got an e-galley of Watched, and I really want to read Jackaby. I really enjoyed Mockingjay part 1. I’m like you though, I hate when people laugh at the wrong places, especially when I don’t understand why they’re laughing.
