“The leather-bound volume was nothing remarkable. To an ordinary historian, it would have looked no different from hundreds of other manuscripts in Oxford’s Bodleian Library, ancient and worn. But I knew there was something odd about it from the moment I collected it.” (pg. 1)
“Exhaustion overtook me, and the water pulled me under. A strange sense of exhilaration accompanied the fatigue. I was poised between mortality and something elemental that held within it the promise of a vast, incomprehensible power. If I surrendered to the undertow, there would be no more Diana Bishop. Instead I would become water — nowhere, everywhere, free of my body and the pain.” (pg 289-290)
Just because I have loads of other books I need to read, does that mean I should not take time to reread a favorite? Even if it did, it’s already too late and I’m immersed. Plus, I’m super excited because I might be able to get my copies signed at LATFOB in a couple weeks! Ah! That means automatic reread, of course.
