Teaser Tuesday: King’s Cage

What is teaser Tuesday? It’s a meme hosted by The Purple Booker (previously by Books and a Beat).

Grab your current read, flip to a random page, share two teaser sentences, don’t include spoilers.

I wonder about Corvium, the military city we saw burning on our way to the Choke.
There was rioting after my broadcast message. Was it the first gasp of revolution – or the last?

“Cameron, my heart is literally in this,” he hisses through gritted teeth.
Swooning words. A romantic declaration. I can barely stop my eyes from rolling.

I DNFed this book even though I really wanted to finish it. King’s Cage is one of those books that you probably have to reread the series before jumping into the next book because I felt lost 50 pages in. Or maybe I was just bored with the “small talk”.

  1. That often happens to me with series books when I read them when they are released. I read over 200 books a year and don’t remember details if there are too many books between books in a series for me. I have read the Red Queen but not follow up books. I’d have to read Red Queen again before going on. This week I am spotlighting The House on Tradd Street by Karen White from my TBR mountain. Happy reading!

  2. I always hate having to DNF a book…but there are so many books out there, it is sad to linger on one that isn’t doing it for you. Lovely snippet, though.

Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: “DEAD OF WINTER”

  3. I hate that feeling. Sometimes it is better to DNF and see if you can ever come back to it.

  4. If you’re not enjoying the book, then I think DNFing it is the only way to go… A shame for you, though:(. My TT is a sci fi space opera – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/11/21/teaser-tuesday-21st-november-2017/

  5. That happened to me this past week, some books you kinda need to read the series in order or you find yourself lost like I did.

  6. I’ve been on the fence with this series, but thank you for sharing 😀
