So today’s topic is Top Ten Best Book Couples of 2015 (Readers/Bloggers choice of best); So up for Best (insert topic choice here by blogger) I’ve gone with the couples because I love me a good romance (like every year!). Because who doesn’t love some ooey-gooey adorable, swoony-ness! (Couples are from books I’ve read in 2015 and are in just random order.) Please be warn, some of the quotes might be a tad spoiler-ish…and a lot of kissing.
BEST BOOK COUPLES in 2015
(01) A Darker Shade of Magic: Lila and Kell
He would see her again. He knew he would. Magic bent the world. Pulled it into shape. There were fixed points. Most of the time they were places. But sometimes, rarely, they were people. For someone who never stood still, Lila felt like a pin in Kell’s world. One he was sure to snag on.
(02) Uprooted: Agnieszka and Dragon
“Well,” I said after a moment, inconsequentially, “I suppose it did work.” He stared at me, outrage dawning, and I started laughing, helplessly, almost snorting: I was dizzy with magic and alarm.
“You intolerable lunatic,” he snarled at me, and then he caught my face between his hands and kissed me.
(03) Six of Crows: Inej and Kaz
“He needed to tell her…what? That she was lovely and brave and better than anything he deserved. That he was twisted, crooked, wrong, but not so broken that he couldn’t pull himself together into some semblance of a man for her. That without meaning to, he’d begun to lean on her, to look for her, to need her near. He needed to thank her for his new hat.”
“I can hear the change in Kaz’s breathing when he looks at you.”
“You… you can?”
“It catches every time, like he’s never seen you before.”
(04) Their Fractured Light: Sofia and Gideon
“Gideon,” I whisper, unable to speak above a whisper. “This is a bad idea.”
“I know.” His eyes don’t move from my face, scanning my features, lingering on my eyes, my lips. “Just let it be a bad idea a few more moments from now.” He lowers his head his lips are soft, brushing mine once-than again, lingering a little longer. pressing a little closer.
(05) When a Scot Ties the Knot: Maddie and Logan
“Thank you for carrying me.”
“You weigh less than a bird. It was nothing.”
“It was distressingly romantic, is what it was. Would you try to be a bit less dashing? This is meant to be a convenient arrangement.”
“As you like, mo chride.”
“Logan. That is the stupidest, sweetest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“What can I say. I’m…”
“Squish. Pure Squish.”
“I was going to say I’m in love with you, but I suppose it isna much different.”
(06) The Rogue Not Taken: Sophie and King
“Just because you call yourself King does not make you my ruler.”
“In this, I’m your ruler,” he said.
“You’re so arrogant. I have half a mind to die just to prove you wrong.”
His lips found hers, stealing heartbeat of a kiss before he moved to worship at her throat. “We’re not suppose to like each other.” Her words came on a sigh.
“Don’t worry. We don’t.”
What a lie that was.
(07) Suddenly One Summer: Victoria and Ford
Hands hovering over the keyboard, he paused and looked over. “I’m going to begin typing now, so you might want to brace yourself for the onslaught of sexiness.”
Audrey’s head spun. “You puked in the alley? Wow. You must really like him.”
“Oh, God. Don’t say that.” Victoria bent her head over her knees and took slow, deep breaths.
“The vomiting seems to be her way of expressing her feelings toward Ford,” Rachel told Audrey.
“Aw. And they say romance is dead.”
(08) The Heart of Betrayal: Lia and Rafe
“I suppose if we’re going to fall in love all over again, kissing will be part of it.”
His lips traveled to my neck. “It was worth it, Lia,” he said. “Every mile, every day. I’d do it again. I’d chase you across three continents if that’s what it took to be with you.”
(09) The Fill-In Boyfriend: Gia and Hayden
“Should we play Twenty Questions?”
“How would that work in this situation?”
“I could try to guess your preferences.”
“My preferences in a kiss?”
I nodded, our faces still very close together.
“My preference is simple—you.”
“Well, if you’re a mess then I’m a natural disaster.”
“The cutest natural disaster I’ve ever seen.”
Cinder & Kai
“She hesitated before asking, “Do you ever think about the future?”
His expression turned wary. “Of course I do.”
“And … does it include me?”
His gaze softened in a way that made her pulse skip. Releasing the overhead pipe, he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “That depends on whether I’m thinking about the good future or the bad one.”
Cinder shut her eyes and tucked her head under his chin. “As long as one of them does.”
Scarlet and Wolf
“I need him as much as he needs me. But that doesn’t make it love.
Winter lowered her lashes. “Actually, dear friend, I suspect that is precisely what makes it love.”
“It’s just like the one Scarlet had.” He flipped the gun in his palms, running his thumbs along the barrel. “She shot me in the arm once.” This confession was said with as much tenderness as if Scarlet had given him a bouquet of wildflowers rather than a bullet wound.
Cress and Thorne
“You deserve better than some thief who’s going to end up in jail again. Everyone knows it. Even I know it. But you seem determined to believe I’m a actually a decent guy who’s halfway worthy of you. So, what scares me most” – he twisted a lock of hair between his fingers – “is that someday even you will realize that you can do better.”
“Not to worry.” He kissed the lock of hair. “I am a criminal mastermind, I have a plan.” Clearing his throat, he started to check things off in the air. “First, get a legitimate job – check. Legally buy my ship – in progress. Prove that I’m hero material by helping Cinder save the world – oh, wait, I did that already.” He winked. “Oh, and I have to stop stealing things, but that’s probably a given. So I figure, by the time you realize how much I don’t deserve you… I might kind of deserve you.”
Winter and Jacin
“You want me to be fixed, don’t you?”
Jacin drew back, as if she’d thrown something at him. “You’re not broken.”
“I fear tomorrow will be even more difficult for you, Sir Clay. Do try to think of me when you can.”
“Try, Princess?” He smirked, meeting her gaze again. “I can’t seem to think of much else.”
