They hear the spirits. They must obey.

In the Forest of the Dead, where the empire’s worst criminals are exiled, twin sisters Moria and Ashyn are charged with a dangerous task. For they are the Keeper and the Seeker, and each year they must quiet the enraged souls of the damned.

Only this year, the souls will not be quieted.

Ambushed and separated by an ancient evil, the sisters’ journey to find each other sends them far from the only home they’ve ever known. Accompanied by a stubborn imperial guard and a dashing condemned thief, the girls cross a once-empty wasteland, now filled with reawakened monsters of legend, as they travel to warn the emperor. But a terrible secret awaits them at court–one that will alter the balance of their world forever.

Ms. Armstrong’s newest YA book sounds wicked. I like the idea that the main characters are twin girls. Reminds me of my hayday when my favorite shows involved Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen and Tia & Tamera Mowry. I haven’t read any of her adult books but I just ate up both her Darkest Powers and Darkness Rising trilogies so I have high hopes for this book.

  1. I’ve not read a single book by Kelley Armstrong though I own at least two! Also, I’m shamefaced again because I’ve not read the synopsis for this before now. And it sounds awesome.

I seriously LOVED the Olsen twins and Tia and Tamera!!! Oh my gosh.

    My WoW!

    1. What?! You have two of her books and you’ve not read them yet? That’s so sad; you’re missing out. I loved her YA books so far.

Right? I miss the days with those kind of fun shows. I mentioned Tia and Tamera to a younger kid, and they had no idea who I was talking about.

  2. I do enjoy me some Kelley Armstrong. This one sounds great!

  19. I’ve had this one for awhile but I’m super hesitant to read it. I didn’t realize it was so heavy on fantasy elements until a couple weeks ago. I’m going to at least give it a try though, and hopefully be sucked in. 🙂

    1. Now that I’m thinking about it, I think most (if not all) of Kelly Armstrong’s books are fantasy. Lol. But yes! Hopefully you enjoy it. 🙂

  20. I love Kelley Armstrong’s YA series!! This one looks like it’s going to be good, too—though to top her other two series would be a challenge!
