Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are excited for.

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

Hardcover: 352 pages
Publication date: April 11th 2017
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Add on: Goodreads

Seventeen-year-old Molly Peskin-Suso knows all about unrequited love. No matter how many times her twin sister, Cassie, tells her to woman up, Molly can’t stomach the idea of rejection. So she’s careful. Fat girls always have to be careful.

Then a cute new girl enters Cassie’s orbit, and for the first time ever, Molly’s cynical twin is a lovesick mess. Meanwhile, Molly’s totally not dying of loneliness—except for the part where she is. Luckily, Cassie’s new girlfriend comes with a cute hipster-boy sidekick. If Molly can win him over, she’ll get her first kiss and she’ll get her twin back.

There’s only one problem: Molly’s coworker, Reid. He’s a chubby Tolkien superfan with a season pass to the Ren Faire, and there’s absolutely no way Molly could fall for him.

I adored Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda so definitely looking forward to this super cute sounding book!

  6. I need this in my life! Somehow I’ve managed to get this far into blogging without reading Simon Vs., but it’s on the docket for sometime very soon — that way I jump straight into this one. 🙂

  7. Upside is definitely one of my most-anticipated releases of 2017. I adored Simon vs. (duh), and I just love Becky as a person (she’s local to me, so I always run into her at bookish events in my city). I recently won an ARC of this in a giveaway, and I’m soooo anxious for my copy to come in the mail! I hope you love this one when you get your hands on it! 🙂

  8. I haven’t read Simon but it is SO cool that it is going to be made into a movie! I’m not a fan of YA contemporary so I don’t think I’ll be reading this one. I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it, Cyn! =)
