Weekly Wrap Up (40)

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap-up with Bookmunchies. This is our weekly update that combines Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer‘s SUNDAY POST and Tynga’s Reviews‘ STACKING THE SHELVES. This is a post to share news, to recap the week on the blog, share new reads and new books, and upcoming fun for the week ahead!

Hey guys, Jackie here,

It’s been a quiet week but then again I haven’t been to work until Friday afternoon and that was different. It’s funny how there can be so many changes when you’ve only been gone for a month. Like I kind of feel lost but still know where things go and at the same time feel like I’m a newbie at work again as I have to do everything super slow due to breathing problems. But, as long as I get my work done then that’s okay, right? Anyways I’ve jumped on the adult coloring book bandwagon. I’ve got a few pages to color while I was in the hospital and suddenly I want to buy all the coloring books. I bought the ones by Johanna Basford because it looks really nice and I love the intricate floral designs she has. Sadly I have no color pencils yet so I’m going to have to grab some this weekend. Are any of you guys addict to these adult coloring books as well?

✖ “Waiting” On Wednesday: The Hazel Wood
✖ Really Really Short Review: The Scot Beds His Wife by Kerrigan Byrne

Here at Bookmunchies we believe in being surprises for the week
(aka. we procrastinate, so we can’t tell you what’s quite coming up yet).

The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand (4 stars): The concept of the story was cute, but I still feel like Holly didn’t really change much by the end of the book.

If There’s no Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout (4 stars): The story is a familiar plotline, but there’s just something about Jennifer L. Armentrout’s writing that turns me into an emotional wreck after I’m done with one of her novels.

1. The Becoming of Noah Shaw by Michelle Hodkin

  1. Glad to hear you are back to work! Take your time getting things done. It’ll get done when it gets done and thats good enough!
I enjoy the adult coloring books too. I can’t decide what to use though-pens or pencils. The pencils often aren’t sharp enough to get into the small, intricate spaces, but the pens bleed and suck for coloring larger areas.
Hope you have a good week!

  2. I have not embraced the adult coloring book thing, but I have heard it’s very therapeutic for some. Glad you enjoy it. I still have to read Holly Chase. I am a little disappointed to hear she didn’t change over the course of the book, since it’s supposed to be like A Christmas Carol, but four stars is respectable.

  3. My mom has coloring books, but I don’t have the patience for them. Have a great week, and enjoy your new book!

  4. Last year for Christmas I bought two coloring books. One was a forest theme. I spent my holidays coloring like crazy…and I haven’t touched them since. :/

I hope you get back into the swing of things at work. It is weird when you’ve been gone. Even being out of my classroom for one day has me discombobulated!

  5. I hope your health problems improve Jackie, it’s stressful when starting a new job. Have a lovely week ahead!
