Weekly Wrap Up (47)

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap-up with Bookmunchies. This is our weekly update that combines Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer‘s SUNDAY POST and Tynga’s Reviews‘ STACKING THE SHELVES. This is a post to share news, to recap the week on the blog, share new reads and new books, and upcoming fun for the week ahead!

Hey all, Kim here!

I have been slacking on the reading since about November, which is when I got back into video games. I’m super in love with ACNL and Stardew Valley. They’re cute and fun and take up way too much of my time.

But new year, new me, right? Upon getting myself back to the gym, that meant getting back to reading as I run on the elliptical. So here I am, back again! I’m thinking about exploring new-to-me genres and hoping for the best.

✖ Teaser Tuesday: About That Kiss
✖ “Waiting” on Wednesday: Honor Among Thieves

Here at Bookmunchies we believe in being surprises for the week
(aka. we procrastinate, so we can’t tell you what’s quite coming up yet).

Married for Christmas by Noelle Adams (4 stars): it was a cute Christmas romance.

Heart on Fire by Amanda Bouchet: (2 stars): I didn’t love the first two books ad was hoping #3 would change my mind, but nope. This one was even worse – weird pacing, a LOT of telling instead of showing, and a never ending cycle of insecurity/reassurance.

  1. The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley
  2. The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley

  1. I’ve been reading a lot. Too cold to go outside. But I really slacked off on writing reviews this week. Now to get down to it and try to get back to blogging ahead too.

    1. Ohh, good luck. I’m so bad about blogging ahead. If I’m in the groove of reading, it can be so hard for me to pause to take the time and write a thoughtful review. I’d rather just throw myself headfirst into a new book, which doesn’t always help. Haha.

  2. I’m impressed you can run on the elliptical! My concentration is not that great. I’ve seen some mixed reviews for book #3 in the Bouchet series. I’ve been curious about it but since it’s not really my regular genre and the conclusion seems to be a disappointment I’m thinking I should pass. Have a great week!

    1. I need something to focus on when on the elliptical or else I’ll just be staring at the clock willing it to move faster. Lol. And yeahhhhh. The Bouchet series was overall pretty meh for me, so I don’t recommend it especially if it’s not your regular genre.

  3. Hey Kim! I joined a gym this year and I’m going for the new year, new me thing too! I’ve been really trying with the elliptical but I much prefer treadmills and weights. 😀 I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

    Have a wonderful week. =)

    1. Go you! That’s awesome! I usually use the weight machines before ending it off with a relaxing elliptical run/read. Haha. But working out in any way is awesome and such a good way to start the year. The important thing is developing the habits so you continue working out throughout the year. 😉

  4. I couldn’t really get into Breath of Fire and I’ve heard from everyone that the series doesn’t get much better. That’s too bad!

    1. NOPE. This series was actually a hate read for a friend and me. We enjoyed complaining about the book more than we did reading it. It’s sad because there was a good premise and so much potential.

  5. I keep seeing people talk about playing The Sims, and it makes me want to play again, but then I know it will take away time from reading and blogging and writing. Fortunately I only have my work laptop right now, so I can’t put it on there. Hope you have a great week!
    Check out my Sunday Post

    1. Same! The sims is a classic game that never seems to go out of style. It’s hard trying to balance all the hobbies. Haha. And yeah, I understand. I just discovered a PC game I want to play, but the only PC in my life is my work computer which is a def no-go.

  6. I love reading while walking on the track or doing the elliptical.

I hope you have a great week!

    1. It’s such a great way to combine doing something I love (reading) with something I don’t love (working out). Haha.
